According to reports, the star-studded LP will be fittingly titled Cruel Summer.

Kanye West has apparently announced the title of the much anticipated G.O.O.D. Music album: Cruel Summer. While that’s all the information he revealed surrounding the compilation, but he wasn’t done there. Yeezy also announced that Cruel Summer is the name of a short film he’s premiering on May 23 during this year’s Cannes Film Festival in France. The film has been described as “a fusion of short film and art installation” and an “immersive seven-screen experience” in an accompanying press release. And after it debuts, Cruel Summer will be open for public viewing on May 24 and 25. (Complex)

In March, contributing producer Mannie Fresh hinted at the LP’s near-completion.

“The cool thing about G.O.O.D. Music is it’s a bunch of great ideas,” Mannie said in an interview. “I’m one of them ideas. So some songs do go through that cycle. Some songs get to me like that where they’ll sayd, ‘Hey, see what you can do to this song. Hey, see what you can add to this song.’ So it’s a good opportunity, it’s a good thing. [Kanye West] is trying to find the most talented producers, the most talented artists and put them all in a room and say, ‘Go for it.’ It’s all energy. … In hip-hop history, when have we ever got along? It’s a cool thing, we’re sitting at the table, all of us get along on one accord, making good music. … It’s pretty close, it’s pretty close, I would say it’s pretty, pretty close to being, you know, [finished.] Like I said, the songs are phenomenal, everything. It’s an album that’s all over the place. It’s not just one thing.” (MTV)

Earlier this year, reports emerged detailing the project’s supposed first single.

A source close to Def Jam has informed me that the tentative first single from the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music compilation is to be “Lamborghini, Murci.” The track, which was produced by Phoenix-based producer Lifted, is set to feature Kanye West, Pusha T and Big Sean. No word on when this is to drop, but I’ve heard it’s a monster. (Fake Shore Drive)

Recently, rapper Jay Electronica and singer Marsha Ambrosius got attached to the LP.

G.O.O.D. Music is keeping good company on its forthcoming compilation. Kanye West has called on some of his friends outside of the crew to work on the highly-anticipated album. Frank Ocean, Marsha Ambrosius, and Jay Electronica are among the latest artists to fly to London to record with Yeezy and his G.O.O.D. Music family. “In the studio with Frank Ocean, Big Sean, Pusha T, Manny Fresh 🙂 Kanye West is on the way!!! I’m having fun today,” tweeted Marsha, later adding, “Thoroughly enjoyed my quick trip to London. Witnessed greatness. @PUSHA_T ‘THAT VERSE!’ & @BigSean ‘Marsha Marsha Marsha.’ KANYE!!! #1.” Former Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh has also been cooking up some tracks for the spring release, along with Big Sean, Common, Pusha T, John Legend, Mr. Hudson, Hit-Boy and more.
