Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne recently delved into his admiration for Kanye West and boasted about what one key on-stage asset blew him away.
Talking to veteran journalist Elliott Wilson, Weezy F. Baby talked about Kanye’s trend of donning masks during his live performances.
“He did a whole show with a mask on. When he came out with the mask, I was like, ‘This n*gga crazy,’ so then two songs go by, ‘this n*gga crazy, he still got that mask on.’ Then three, four, five songs go by, go into intermission and sh*t, that changed the mask, like, ‘that ain’t no Kayne out there, that n*gga taller and everything.’ That’s crazy as h*ll – y’all know I couldn’t do no sh*t like that.” (CRWN)
Footage of Yeezy going off on a female when she demanded he take off a stage mask surfaced online back in December.
Don’t mess with Kanye West! The rapper was caught on tape kicking out a heckler when one audience member got a bit too mouthy during a San Antonio concert Sunday night. Right in the middle of one of the “I Am A God” singer’s autotuned speeches, Kanye paused and motioned for a woman in the front to be removed. While fellow surround fans were yelling, “F**k that b***h!”, Kanye shouted, “Don’t f**king heckle me,” adding, “I’m Kanye motherf***king West… I am dead f**king serious.” Scooch to the 3:30 mark and see for yourself. Last year, Kanye suggested the sacrifices he made as an entertainer were comparable to a police officer.
“I’m putting my life at risk. I think when I’m on the ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothin” and ‘Coldest Winter’ moment, like, that mountain goes really, really high. And if I slipped and my leg happens and you never know. I think about my family. I’m like, ‘Wow.’ This is like being a police officer or at war or something. You’re literally going out to do your job every day and knowing that something could happen verbally from the press bashing you. Something could happen to you from people not liking you anymore because of your records and you could actually slip on that stage. It’s like we’re walking this tight rope and we’re fighting for creativity and fighting for ideas and fighting for thought. I’ll explain it to my daughter one day that me and her mother, we had to fight for this position that we’ll finally have.” (“Saturday Night Online)
Last year, Mr. West raised eyebrows after sporting a head garment at Paris Fashion Week.
Kanye West tried to stay low key upon arriving at Maison Martin Margiela’s Paris Fashion Week show on Wednesday. The stylish rapper appeared in a bright red ski mask, with a white suit, long black trench coat, and the always classic Visvim mocassin sneakers. ‘Ye has always shown recent support to the Margiela brand, attending the Belgian designer’s NYC launch party for the brand’s H&M collaboration last year.
