According to a couple of producers, the joint effort is definitely happening.

Following a semi-heated back-and-forth between musicians Hudson Mohawke and Mike Dean about Magna Carta Holy Grail, (in which HudMo pulled no punches in describing how he felt about the record) Dean revealed that the sequel to Watch The Throne is indeed in the works. Hopefully for HudMo fans, any unfavorable politics surrounding his MCHG opinion don’t end up getting in the way of the music. This isn’t actually the first time Dean has “confirmed” WTT2, he talked about it about a year ago. But now things appear to be getting real. Here we are again, waiting for Jay and Ye, just when we thought we’d get a break. (Complex)

The Watch the Throne producer also recently said fans of the duo’s joint summer 2011 effort could look forward to them hooking back up.

“Yeah, eventually,” WTT producer Mike Dean told HuffPost Live on Monday. “[They’re] not working on it yet, it’s just talking about it. I actually talked to Jay about it last week. … My lips are sealed. I don’t want to do any spoilers. I’ll let them get all their spoilers themselves.” (MTV)

Back in March 2012, renowned sound engineer Young Guru spoke on a possible Watch the Throne follow-up.

“It’s definitely a serious consideration. Hasn’t been underway yet but definitely serious consideration. Has been talked about but hasn’t been executed yet. Definitely could happen. A lot of artists just say sh*t too but if you think about it, this is just my opinion, the way I would like it to go-I would like Kanye to do the G.O.O.D. Music album and Jay-Z to do a solo album then they go out and tour and do all that sh*t and then next year, or the end of the year, we get Watch the Throne 2. To me, that would be the best thing to happen. I think the G.O.O.D. Music album is necessary for Kanye to establish that brand because they need to establish [themselves].” (Complex)

In 2011, Watch the Throne contributing producer Sham “Sak Pase” Joseph talked to SOHH about a likely sequel.

“Nah, it’s not surprising,” Pase told SOHH when asked if he is surprised about a possible Watch the Throne follow-up releasing sooner than later. “I just heard so much great music and if they wanted to make another album, I think we would all be blown away by it. It’s pretty scary what Jay-Z and Kanye West’s capacity is. This music, it’s very easy for them because coming from a music standpoint, Kanye and the people he has around him and his ear for music, it’s just impeccable. Then you have Jay-Z who understands the power of each word he says on the record. They’re going to mess up anyone’s release schedule at any given point if they drop another album. You’re going to have to push your record back because it’s unfair.” (SOHH)
