Grammy-winning rappers Kanye West and Jay-Z have reportedly teamed up to release an upcoming EP called Watch the Throne.
While details are still hazy, Yeezy broke the news via Twitter.
“Me and jay bout to drop a 5 song album called “Watch the Throne”,” Ye wrote Friday (August 27) evening.
“‘MONSTER’ ….. Happy GOOD Friday!!! The second song off of me and Jay album!http://www.kanyeuniversecity.com/blog/.” (Kanye West’s Twitter)
Both artists have worked on numerous records together dating back to West’s 2003 debut College Dropout.
While we’re still waiting to hear the result of that Jay-Z and Jack White collaboration, it’s been Hova’s work with Kanye West that has proved to be his most captivating partnership of late. If you need any evidence of why, then listen to the “Diamonds From Sierra Leone” remix, “Run This Town”, and the recently revealed “Power” remix. (Consequence of Sound)
West is also working on his upcoming untitled 808’s & Heartbreak follow-up.
“The album is no longer called “Good A** Job” I’m bouncing a couple of titles around now,” Kanye West revealed via his newTwitter page on Wednesday (July 28). (Kanye West’s Twitter)
Aiming for a November 16th release, West recently talked about wanting his new LP to be filled with joy.
“Everyone says all great art comes from pain but I think my greatest art comes from excitement and joy. It’s a completely different perspective about being extremely excited about stuff that is only cool to me,” West said in a recent Rolling Stone office visit. “Like, when I tweeted, ‘What’s your credenza game?’ I was very excited about that credenza…It was important to not be limited by the art form of rap but to have rap bring it to another level. Is it rap or is it poetry? Is it spoken word? Is it [a] speech?” (MTV)
No further details have been released as of now.
