Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West has finally come forward to shed some light on landing the cover of TIME‘s new “100 Most Influential People” magazine.

Mr. West hopped onto his Twitter page to post up a shot of his cover and reveal a reaction this weekend.

A few days ago, Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon “Dame” Dash applauded Ye’s new cover.

Within his cover feature, Kanye shared his thoughts on humanity and, specifically, what fueled selfishness.

“I’m not in a competition with anyone,” he says in a video interview with TIME. “All these walls that keep us from loving each other as one family or one race–racism, religion, where we grew up, whatever, class, socioeconomic–what makes us be so selfish and prideful, what keeps us from wanting to help the next man, what makes us be so focused on a personal legacy as opposed to the entire legacy of a race,” West says. “The dinosaurs aren’t remembered for much more than their bones. When humanity’s gone, what do we give to this little planet that we’re on, and what could we do collectively, removing the pride?” (TIME)

    • How so? I’m not disagreeing I just wonder how. I guess in the realm of fashion.

      • Hello Hope all is well!!!
Well i say that because i see / saw his
power of influence….most rappers have it to a degree most public
figures in entertainment have it….but kanye is different he’s to
versatile to be held to one thought and that can be food for inspiration
        in it self.

        • Very true. He’s into his fashion thing real heavy and is clearly ambitious. A little crazy but ambitious.

          • i must say your input is always a breath of fresh air…you comment challenge me and hence i have to elaborate and challenge my own thoughts….lastly i think i like kanye more than the music…i like the way he see’s stuff and his passion for hip hop…he willed himself into being good

      • but what i also give him credit for its a reach ..big one
but in 03 everyone was trying to be gangsta….thanks to g-unit….
kanye came with something different and thankfully people copied his non
aggressive style more so than the gangsta stuff…i think that switch
        in genre did a lot

        • Well a lot of people credit him and Drake with that. But groups like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Pharcyde, Digable Planets, Gang Starr, and others were not gangsta at all and were relatively successful. But in 2003 that fun, conscious, backpacker, non aggressive, non gangsta elements was largely gone so maybe Ye did help bring it back.

      • Sidenote: Time is not really anything special its the value that people
put on the thoughts that make it something..Im not going to buy it but
in a world of non equal proportions..i like the thought of the media
portraying him in a positive…putting him on the cover is only a
start…but it should inspire…as always thanks for checking me

        • Always my brother! I don’t let Time or any of these other establishment publications dictate our worth but I agree with the positivity thing.

  1. yeezy opened a lane that was gone,,but he gone off da deep end a lil,,he talks different(new accent) basically did what he said in gold digger(got on and got a white girl),,made some kinda nonsensical music(yeezus) and I hope that news about a slave-era show he is producing is not true,,but its kool his passion is being felt enuff to get him da cover
