According to reports, Mr. West’s “New Slaves” and “Black Skinhead” have not won everyone over and are forcing Ye to make some last-minute tweaks.

Kanye West’s new album “Yeezus” is due out June 18, but he’s still in the studio putting the final touches on the track list. Chatter among music insiders is the rapper’s scrambling to add some consumer-friendly singles to the album. The aggressive tracks he performed on “SNL,” including “New Slaves” and “Black Skinhead” received mixed reviews. But an insider tells us that West’s reworking so close to the release date is “not in any response to any negative reaction.” He’s also bringing in extra marketing muscle to push “Yeezus” including Amy Thomson, who managed Swedish House Mafia and is working with West as a consultant. The news comes just days after Ye’s “New Slaves” Baltimore, Maryland and Houston, Texas public projections were shut down.

Baltimore officials have canceled outdoor premieres of a new Kanye West video because organizers didn’t seek permits from the city. Police say the events had been scheduled for 10 p.m. at three locations: the Bromo-Seltzer Arts Tower, the Walters Art Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Art. West has been projecting the video for his song “New Slaves” onto walls in public spaces in numerous cities. Baltimore police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says the events were canceled because they had the potential to attract large crowds and organizers had not sought permits. (CBS Local)

As of this week, Kanye’s new album is not available for pre-order purchases.

This is interesting and very Kanye like. But according to A.P.C. clothing brand founder and Kanye West’s friend Jean Touitou, his new album Yeezus is expected to skip pre orders completely and go straight for purchase, somewhat similar to the strategy they adopted with Watch the Throne. That also explains iTunes taking down the pre-order link which only went up for a day or so. (HHNM)

Buzz behind Ye’s seemingly overnight decision to drop his album June 18th turned up a couple weeks ago.

Apparently, his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, is also part of his marketing team. She posted a photo on Instagram Saturday night showing the album artwork for Yeezus alongside a pair of the rapper’s Air Yeezy sneakers, which he designed for Nike. “#Yeezus #RedYeezy’s #SNL #Tonight #NewSlaves #YeezySeason #Donda #June18,” she captioned the image.
