According to reports, Yeezy is in the wrong for using 1974’s “Bumpin’ Bus Stop” on the track’s introduction.

You know that song “Bumpin’ Bus Stop?” Well no one does, but that hasn’t stopped the songwriter’s offspring from suing Kanye West for allegedly daring to sample a teensy-weensy portion of that most obscure song. David Pryor wrote and sang “Bumpin’ Bus Stop” with his band Thunder & Lightning in 1974. Two of his children, Trena Steward and Lorenzo Pryor, each own about a quarter of the tune. They claim that 13 seconds into Kanye’s “Gold Digger” — his massive 2005 No. 1 hit — comes a sample of their father’s miss. (TMZ)

Along with halting the release of “Gold Digger,” the plaintiffs also want damages for the unauthorized sample.

If you listen carefully, you can hear what’s allegedly Pryor’s voice say “Get down” three times, echoing Kanye’s line, “Get down girl, get down, get down.Steward and Pryor want a judge to stop the sale of “Gold Digger” — which is very weird since it’s been out for 8 years. And, of course, they want damages, and lots of them. Warning to Steward and Pryor … None of the people they’re messin’ with appear to be broke. (TMZ)

The mega hit song features R&B singer Jamie Foxx and acheived mainstream success on the music charts back in 2005.

Gold Digger” is a song recorded by American rapper Kanye West featuring guest vocals by Jamie Foxx. Released as the second single from West’s second album, Late Registration, “Gold Digger” peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 on September 6, 2005, becoming West’s and Foxx’s second number one single. Co-produced with Jon Brion, the song contains an interpolation of Ray Charles‘ “I Got a Woman” by Foxx. (Last FM)

Upon its release, Ye’s Late Registration album sold over 800,000 copies in its opening week back in September 2005.

The last week’s been quite a doozy for Kanye, but one that’ll be capped off by a crowning achievement: West’s sophomore album, Late Registration, opens at #1 on next week’s Billboard albums chart, having sold more than 860,000 copies during its first week on shelves. Kanye’s debut LP, The College Dropout, entered the chart at #2 the week after it was released in early 2004, with first-week scans of close to 441,000. (MTV)
