Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West is back to his music-making ways after reportedly settling a 2013 lawsuit over his “Bound 2” hit.

According to reports, Yeezy has settled the lawsuit dealing with “Bound 2’s” sample.

Ricky Spicer, former soul singer of The Ponderosa Twins Plus One, sued West, Roc-A-Fella Records, Universal Music Group and Island Def Jam Music Group on Dec. 23, 2013, for the use of the group’s song “Bound” without his authorization. Paperwork (dated March 6) was filed to New York court earlier this month, on May 11, discontinuing Spicer’s suit. (Billboard)

According to reports, Yeezy caught heat over the song’s usage of singer Ricky Spicer’s voice.

In 2013, Spicer stated that he had not received any compensation, despite the song’s success. He sought an injunction and damages for alleged violations of New York civil right of publicity law (section 51), unjust enrichment and common law copyright infringement. On the song, Spicer’s altered voice can be heard throughout the chorus singing the lyrics “Bound, bound/ Bound to fall in love.” (Billboard)

A couple years ago, NBC sketch comedy “Saturday Night Live” featured a “Bound 2” spoof.

So how did Kim lose the weight? “Through a healthy diet, regular exercise, and Photoshop!” Though we find out later from Kanye that Kim’s healthy diet means “not eating anymore” and “not getting hungry anymore.” After Kanye called Kim “the Armenian Frank Gehry” and she called his dad “Mr. Black Guy” and “Morgan Freemans,” SNL then debuted their spoof for the “Bound 2? music video. It was a Christmas version of the video, with Kim and Kanye bobbing up and down on Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in front of a green screen. The perfect end to a perfect sketch. (Hollywood Life)

Hollywood actors James Franco and Seth Rogen teamed up and released their “Bound 3” spoof in fall 2013.

James Franco and Seth Rogen are taking on Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s sexy “Bound 2” music video! In a hilarious parody clip, the This Is the End costars mock Kimye’s steamy video, topless motorcycle scenes and all. The video starts out with a special message to fans reading, “While on the set of their movie, The Interview, James Franco & Seth Rogen felt inspired to recreate their favorite new video. Shot. For. Shot.” The recreated music video then begins with sweeping landscape shots of snowy mountains and grassy fields, followed by those wild horses we’ve come to love running through water. (E! Online)
