Writing via Twitter, Yeezy publicly made his proclamation.

“Listening to “Fancy” … This is a big statement but Swizz Beats may be the best rap producer of all time… f*ck that… he is,” he tweeted Friday (August 13) evening.

“He’s original… He’s modern… he lives this sh*t for real… he is rap… Yall gone see though… This Swizz year… Yall gone see.” (Kanye West’s Twitter)

Swizzy later responded to the statement and gracefully accepted Ye’s remarks.

“Much love to my brother @kanyewest for showing super love today I am humble by that statement 2010 =positive energy I told you!!!!!!,” he wrote Saturday morning.

“KANYE, MOS DEF, SWIZZIE PUSHER T & MR HUDSON IN THE STUDIO = ? BECAUSE THATS WHATS GOING DOWN RITE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!#SHOWTIME” (Swizz Beatz’s Twitter)

Despite Ye’s proclamation, Beatz was not included in Billboard’s “Top Producers of the Decade” list last December.

Hot 100 Producers: 1. The Neptunes 2. Timbaland 3. Kanye West 4. Scott Storch 5. Will.i.am 6. Jonathan “Lil Jon” Smith 7.Stargate 8. Bryant-Michael Cox 9. Jermaine Dupri 10. Dr. Luke (Billboard Biz)

West, himself, was praised for his efforts on 2004’s College Dropout, which was Entertainment Weekly‘s top album of the decade.

The 2004 debut from West — a revolutionarily relatable rapper who also happened to be a beatmaking genius — was accepted into the hip-hop canon instantly, no diploma needed. For more Bests of the Decade, pick up the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on stands Dec. 4. (Entertainment Weekly)
