With Cash Money Records’ recent signing of Bow Wow and popularity of the company’s UK artist Jay Sean, SOHH spoke with Juvenile to see if he felt the newcomers could carry on the legacy he helped build.
According to Juvie, Bow Wow has always kept close ties with his former label.
“Eh, they got some big shoes to fill,” Juvie said about the Cash Money newcomers carrying on the legacy. “That’s all I can say, I don’t know anything about Jay Sean, I know about Bow Wow. Even Bow Wow pretty much was always a favorite of Baby‘s because they were cool. Bow Wow did always look up to Lil Wayne, I mean, it’s not a bad look for ‘em. I think it’ll be a plus for Bow Wow being on Cash Money to be honest because they’re capable of doing some big things with artists.” (SOHH)
Bow Wow previously inked an open letter to fans who questioned his new alliance with Cash Money.
“To the naysayers, I hope that you give me the opportunity to earn your respect,” he wrote Tuesday (August 18) night. “I know that over the years I’ve put many of my faults on display which I make no excuses for. I’m young and I’ve made mistakes and I will make more. No different than any other 22 year old, I still have some growing up to do…To anyone who’s confused or says I don’t belong in Cash Money. Let me remind you that I’ve been down with Baby, Slim, Wayne and the whole Cash Money family from the beginning. 10 years ago when we really were ‘Lil’ me and Wayne did a song for the Hardball movie soundtrack.” (Global Grind)
He announced his signing with Cash Money/Young Money over the summer.
“drum roll please……………,” he wrote. “RT THIS!!!! its official BOW WOW IS A CASH MONEY MILLIONAIRE SHOUT TO STUNNA FOR BELIEVING IN ME AND GIVN ME A CHANCE SHOUT OUT 2 WAYNE FOR LETN ME WALK ON BOARD! AND MY YM FAMILY AND CASH MONEY FAMILY LBW/CASHMONEY/YOUNGMONEY BOW WOW WAYNE AND DRAKE? WHO GOT STOP THAT TRIO! GNR LETS GO ITS SHOWTIME!” (Bow Wow’s Twitter)
Juvenile previously spoke with SOHH about the status of a Hot Boys reunion.
“I like this question, I like this question,” Juvie admitted. “I’ve been talking to Baby, man. I’ve talked to Baby, he’s real behind doing the Hot Boys album thing. He done came at me three times but the whole thing was and I wanna be truthful to everybody, it was me and him talking. Me and Wayne was cool. Me and B.G. was cool, all of us was cool but I really had to talk to Baby. We had to put everything out on the table and settle our differences and that was something we’d never done. And I can honestly say it’s been done now so y’all can definitely be looking forward to that album. It’s coming. It’s confirmed [laughs] I got a check already. I always say that when people ask like, ‘Man, they already paid me on the Hot Boys album,’ so you know, with me, I’m already in. It’s just a matter of everybody else being in. I don’t think it would be right if we left Mannie Fresh out. Don’t you think? He was the producer, he did all the music for Hot Boys, so we gotta have him involved, if he don’t do the whole album [then] he gotta do something on there.” (SOHH)
