Although Chicago rapper Chief Keef is reportedly serving out two months in juvenile detention for a probation violation, the teenager hip-hop star has released a new record called "Make It Clap."
The new track unexpectedly arrived Tuesday (February 12) evening and features a couple notable collaborators.
Chief Keef just took to Twitter to release a new song titled “Make It Clap,” featuring Ballout and Dro, with production by his frequent collaborator Young Chop. Fans of Keef’s Chi-Town bred trap rap stylings will enjoy playing this one at high volumes, for sure. Nice to see that Keef’s problems with the law aren’t holding back him back from releasing new music. (Complex)
Earlier this month, Keef’s manager Rovan “Dro” Manuel spoke on the rapper likely turning into a better man following his stint in court-ordered dentention.
“I think he [will]. I got a message from him that he’s had a wake-up call. This is a wake-up call for him. It wasn’t even his fault that it happened, but it happened. I think he’s gonna come out a different person. I think he’s gonna come out with some new music, a new attitude…he’s gonna get out and do some shows, and hopefully go up the charts. And shoot the video for “Hate Being Sober.”” (Best of Both Offices)
While he continues to knock out time, local fans have come through to show support for Chief.
“I do not support the gang stuff, but I support Chief Keef,” said Steve W., manager of Exclusive Communications, an electronics shop at 857 W. 87th St., who declined to give his last name. “We support all artists. We were messing with [Chief Keef’s] music long before all this other stuff happened.” Steve, 29, added that Chief Keef’s music has inspired others to follow their dreams and put their talents to good use. “[Auburn Gresham] is a dangerous area and a lot of crime happens around here, but to see people like Chief Keef go from a nobody to a somebody is motivation for a whole lot of people,” he said. “He has opened a lot of doors for people and that’s good especially for ‘shorties’ living around here.” Since it opened in 2006, Steve said Exclusive has always been a one-stop shop place loaded with deals for everyone. It’s official: 17-year-old Chicago rapper Chief Keef is heading to jail over violating the terms of his parole. According to DNAinfo Chicago, Keef — whose real name is Keith Cozart — was sentenced to 60 days of juvenile detentionfor his probation violation in St. Charles, Ill., on Wednesday. Idris “Peeda Pan” Abdul Wahid, part of Cozart’s management team, told Complex that, “overall, I think it’s the best decision to satisfy everybody.” (Huffington Post)
