With the recent release of her "You Can Dance" single circulating online, SOHH hit up model-turned-rapper/singer Miss Tila about the story behind her record.
In light of the summer bringing its annual heat, Tila felt this track fit the temperature.
“‘You Can Dance’ is a song I felt was for the summertime,” Tila told SOHH. “I’m very much in love with summer. I even have a tattoo on the back of my neck that says, ‘Summer Love.’ And I just felt like this is a really fun summer anthem where everybody gets out there and dances. If you have problems, because I know a lot of people out there have problems and broken hearts, so it’s like, ‘Hey, the best remedy is to go out there with your friends and have fun.’ Enjoy life because life is short.” (SOHH)
Asked who she would snatch up to remix the track, Tila said her top picks easily go to rap stars Kanye West and Nicki Minaj.
“I think it would be really hot to have Nicki Minaj and Kanye West on ‘You Can Dance,'” Tild added. “I’ve had hip-hop tracks released before too previously with ‘I Love My DJ’ and all of that stuff. I started out with punk bands and then I did a lot of hip-hop songs so I think Kanye and Nicki with my style would be great. We all have very distinct voices when we rap and so I think that would be a super hot track with me, Kanye and Nicki on the same record. Just listening to me doing a 16 and them doing 16’s. We all have our distinct voices and styles so hearing all of us, I think that would be hot. Just because I released my first girly dance track doesn’t mean I can’t spit. I can still spit but you know, it’s just fun to switch things up. That’s the fun part about being an independent artist because I can do whatever I want.” (SOHH)
