A judge has decided to raise T.I.‘s current child support payments to his ex-girlfriend and mother of his two children.
The decision was made on Wednesday (February 25) afternoon.
A Superior Court judge boosted T.I.’s payment from just over $3,000 to $5,000 a month to LaShon Dixon. The 28-year-old rapper at first had voluntarily paid about $2,000 per month to support his two sons, ages 7 and 9. The judge ordered joint custody of the boys to continue, with Dixon granted primary physical custody. He’ll have visitation every other weekend. Dixon’s attorney, Randy Kessler, says the woman is “very grateful” for the judge’s decision and called it “a complete victory.” (WRCBT News)
Tip previously appeared in an Atlanta courtroom last month to address a past due attorney’s bill for his custody case.
T.I. appeared in court in Atlanta on Tuesday (January 6) and promptly paid an $8,000 overdue attorney bill for the mother of his two sons. The rapper told a judge the debt was an oversight. (Associated Press)
He was also forced to pay additional child support last fall.
Superior Court Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane said the self-proclaimed “King of the South” must pay Dixon a little over $3,000 a month instead of the $2,000 he was previously providing. Dixon filed the lawsuit against Tip hoping a court would order a stipend equal to the rapper’s success. As part of the judge’s orders, T.I. must continue to fund the private school expenses, medical insurance and extracurricular activities of the boys. (SOHH)
Past reports claim both Tip and Dixon were romantically involved since their teenage years which prompted the original lawsuit.
Per the complaint, Dixon is seeking a court order upping his monthly checks commensurate with the millions he’s now earning from his album sales and a burgeoning business empire that includes a film unit and a clothing line. (E! Online)
