Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$ has stepped forward to respond to a name-check Joe Budden made on his leaked “Control” remix response track to West Coast emcee Kendrick Lamar.
Despite Budden using Joey as a clever punchline, Bada$$ did not retaliate over his bars.
Joe Budden’s “Control” freestyle has been the talk of the rap world since it came out earlier today. One of the more notable lines came when Joe took a stab at Joey Bada$$, saying “Some of these OG’s I laugh at, y’all don’t know me to half ass/To me it’s just one Joey that’s bad ass.” Well now, the Pro Era member has responded to the line, naturally using Twitter to voice his opinion on the issue. “Unphased by joe buttin.” Joey isn’t impressed. But does this mean the youngster will finally go into the booth and respond to all the attention that keeps coming his way? Time will tell. (Complex)
Although initially shelved and not expected to drop, a low quality version of Budden’s “Control” remix leaked online this weekend.
Following the response from his Slaughterhouse brother Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden is the latest to have his response to Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control (HOF)” verse added to the ever growing list… well kinda. Although Budden recorded a response he previously stated that he wouldn’t release it, but during a Ustream chat the track in question was played, and as it is in the world of the interwebs, someone recorded it and here it is for your listening pleasure (if you can take the bad quality recording). Now I hope and pray we get to hear a full CDQ version of this, as in my opinion this is the best and most balanced response to the K. Dot verse so far (from what I could actually hear). Earlier this week, Joey hinted at something stirring up in the form of a response track earlier in the day.
“A Cali n*gga just said he’s the King of NY & u n*ggas so f*cking worried about your relationships, y’all make me sick.,” Budden tweeted August 13.
“@kendricklamar u my nigga 4 life bro…. But u gon learn today.” (Joe Budden’s Twitter)
Budden also found himself engaged in a brief war of words over Lamar’s track with The LOX’s Styles P.
The heat from Kendrick Lamar’s verse on “Control” has spilled over into Twitter beef between Styles P and Joe Budden. The NY rappers started taking shots at each other on Twitter after K. Dot referred to himself as the “King of NY.” Styles first said that the people called out by Kendrick should have responded by today at noon. This prompted Joe to tell Styles that he should have been one to respond. “@therealstylesp he called out everybody. U included.” The update by Joe was later removed. Styles then went in on Joe, calling him an Internet celebrity. “1st and foremost I have never acknowledged any kings but biggie ny or not ny 2nd of all don’t play with me I f— sh– up!” adding,” lyrically and physically so chill and save your Internet bullsh– 4 the next ninja.” Styles then claimed that he and Joe aren’t even friends, so he’d prefer if Joe not @Reply him on Twitter at all. “Just don’t @ me talking like we folk if we ain’t!” he wrote.
