A new clip reminiscent of the opening to Academy Award-winning flick Forrest Gump reveals a January 2015 drop date.

Joey Bada$$’s long-done debut album B4.DA.$$ has at long last been assigned a release date: January 20th, 2015, aka Joey’s birthday. “My 1st album on my 20th birthday this was destiny,” explains the Pro Era rapper in a message accompanying a new album trailer. (The FADER)

Joey also provided an accompanying statement to address the project’s release date.

“P.eace young world this is the Badmon Jozif and I just want to thank all of my supporters and fans for being so patient with me as I finish my first album. The wait is finally almost over and the release date is locked and loaded. After discovering my birthday falls on a Tuesday (the day of the week all albums drop) next year I decided to save the album drop for then (1.20.15). I thought it was the best time to cause a shift. It’s always been a goal of mine to drop a project on my birthday and the premonition has finally come into fruition. The number 120 is very unique and symbolic to me as well. My 1st album on my 20th birthday this was destiny. (Statement)

Joey hinted at the new project’s existence yesterday (November 19).

Back in September, Bada$$ revealed his album’s completion.

“[I finished it] literally two days ago. It’s been pretty much completed for a while, but it’s like when you make ice cream, it’s that cherry on the top that really brings it all together. The whole time, I’ve been searching for sprinkles, and now I got it nicely decorated and everything, so it’s ready to go.” (MTV)
