Rap mogul Jay-Z‘s rumored guest feature on R&B singer Sade‘s “The Moon and the Sky” remix has officially struck the Internet weeks before her Ultimate Collection compilation album hits stores.
Along with a verse from Young Hov, Sade’s track is laced with production from Drake’s Thank Me Later producer, 40.
Jay-Z gazes up at “The Moon and the Sky” on the remix to the opening cut off Sade’s Soldier of Love. The revamped version, included on the band’s two-discoffering The Ultimate Collection (May 3), features an electronically-kissed beat from Noah “40” Shebib as well as a fresh verse from Hov. “I know we coulda had it all, I wasn’t ready to go steady, no not at all/ Smoke and mirrors cloudin’ my vision, we hit a wall/ Couldn’t see the moon and the sky behind the fog/ Pregnant, pause, d*mn your baby tall,” he raps on the melancholy tune. Details of the track being kept under wraps emerged online in late March.
Sade, who took a decade-long hiatus before 2010’s Grammy-winning comeback ‘Soldier of Love,’ is back with a new hits album, and Jay-Z has put his stamp on it. ‘The Ultimate Collection’ double-disc includes classic, whispery Sade tunes alongside three new cuts. In addition to unreleased cuts, the project will also feature some of the singer’s biggest hits.
Along with selling out tour dates all over the country, Sade is also releasing “The Ultimate Collection,” an all new best-of including classic Sade tracks plus some never-before-heard material. The two-disc set will feature Sade’s biggest hits, as chronicled in their previous collection 1994’s “The Best of Sade,” plus their latest hits from platinum-selling “Lovers’ Rock” and “Soldier of Love.” (Gant Daily)
Last October, Sade revealed artists like Jay-Z had approached her about collaboration opportunities.
“I’m too scared,” Sade said about collaborating. “They’ll find me out. It’s like The Wizard of Oz. They’ll find out there’s nothing there. As for collaborations, I’m collaborating with the band and do what we do. I see myself as a member of this band who does these songs that we write…When it comes to sample clearances, I’m probably the cheapest chick in the west.” (Los Angeles Times)
Sade’s Ultimate Collection will hit stores on May 3rd.
