Rap mogul Jay-Z will share elbow space with his wife Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and newly married actress Jessica Biel at this weekend’s Grammy Awards ceremony.
A preliminary seating chart for Sunday’s showcase has leaked online.
There will be plenty of stars onstage at the Staples Center on Sunday, but who will be in the audience? The seating arrangements for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards have been revealed. Hip-hop’s royal couple, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, score the best seats in the house next to Grammy performer Justin Timberlake and his bride Jessica Biel, while The-Dream and Tyrese fill in the rows behind them. Young Money’s Drake and Lil Wayne grab side-by-side seats in front of the legendary Quincy Jones, with five-time nominee Miguel one row back. Best Short Form Music Video nominee M.I.A. (“Bad Girls”) takes a seat in front of Best Rap Album nominee Rick Ross. (Rap-Up)
Married hip-hop couple Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz will also be in attendance and seated next to the artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg.
Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz will catch a contact high from Snoop Lion, who is positioned in front of his “Young, Wild & Free” collaborator Bruno Mars. Lupe Fiasco will be surrounded by country superstars Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Hunter Hayes, with Melanie Fiona behind them. (Rap-Up)
New York rap veteran Nas revealed he would be attending Sunday’s festivities earlier this week.
“Uh…yeah,” Nas said when asked if he would be attending this month’s Grammy Awards show. “Four nods, yeah. [Have I been nominated before?] 18 times. Yeah. Yeah. [How do I feel about hip-hop being represented at the Grammys?] It’s cool. I feel it could be a little bit more loved though, a little bit more. Hip-hop is making a lot of noise. You know, it should get some more spotlight.” (“Chelsea Lately”)
Over the weekend, Jay and Bey were spotted hanging out around Los Angeles.
After proving her status as Queen B once again with her Super Bowl halftime performance possibly blacking out the Superdome, Beyonce jetted off to LA with her family for Grammy week. Jay-Z and Beyonce took one-year-old Blue Ivy to lunch at Gjelin in Venice and of course the paparazzi were all over the fam trying to get pictures. The famous family never travels without their arsenal of security and while the bodyguards tried to stave off the cameras, the paparazzi still managed to get a few shots via Rap-Up. The pictures show Jay-Z holding on to his daughter’s baby bottle while a bodyguard carried Blue Ivy tucked away in her car seat. Beyonce was also captured with her head down to avoid the cameras.
