According to reports, Young Hov will be pushing out the $149 priced headgear beginning next month.

We know that competition can get tense between hip hop artists, but Jay-Z is obviously jealous of the Beats by Dr. Dre’s success to go out and launch his own headphones. Jay-Z and his company Roc Nation, has collaborated with Skullcandy, to develop the Roc Nation Aviator headphones that are going to be available in white, brown, and black. The headphones promise Platinum sound performance via a 40mm full-range enhanced audio driver. The headphones also offer a contoured fit with an aviator inspired spring hinge. They also sport a tangle-free cable (hmm, that sounds familiar) which uses the Skullcandy Mic3 which works as an in-line music and mic control. (Chip Chick)

Jay has also released a statement speaking on the motivation behind his upcoming line.

“Our passion is creating amazing music,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “We’re dedicated to delivering the best in live performances. Now with the Roc Nation/Skullcandy partnership, we’re offering the best way for people to experience the soundtrack of their lives.” (The Boom Box)

Details of Diddy’s new line of headphones landed online earlier this year.

The rapper has teamed up with Monster Cable and Beats by Dr. Dre to introduce Diddy Beats, the latest addition to the popular Beats lineup. The stylish in-ear headphones (MSRP: $179.95), available in black or white, integrate Beats by Dr. Dre’s club-level bass and clarity with a sleek black and silver chrome finish. Diddy Beats comes in an exclusive Sean John-inspired travel case with Monster’s tangle-resistant ControlTalk headphone cable for use with iPhone and iPod. (Rap-Up)

Interscope Records head Jimmy Iovine recently spoke on the strength behind Dre’s headphones.

“This is different, but these days everything is different, period — what we’re doing with Beats, this is really exciting, it’s really taking off,” he explained in an interview. “[He] can be to headphones what Michael Jordan was to sneakers…I told him, ‘You know speakers, not sneakers.’ As we moved forward with it I also told him that he had to get it right with the headphones. It would be the difference between Air Jordans and George Foreman‘s grill. It took us two years to get them right, but when I heard I knew it was going to be big. It’s just like listening to a hit record.” (Los Angeles Times)
