In one segment of the 10-minute clip, Young Hov admits still being shell shocked at Ye’s accomplishments.

“Kanye, I’ve seen him, he’s really like a brother to me,” Jay says in the documentary. “I’ve seen him from the beginning to where he is now and to see him as a producer and how he’s grown as a producer and an artist, for me, on another level, it’s enjoyable. I’m watching the guy I pretty much mentored become his own guy with his own opinion, it’s fantastic.” (“Watch the Throne” Mini-Documentary)

Aside from Jay’s co-signs, the doc shows Hov and Yeezy putting together their highly-anticipated LP.

The process of writing and recording Watch The Throne has been extremely meaningful for both Jay-Z and Kanye West, as Hova has watched West (whom he calls his “brother”) turn from his protege into a hugely successful rapper in his own right. “I’m watching a guy I pretty much mentored become his own guy with his own opinions,” says Jay in a 10-minute documentary following the duo recording the joint LP in Australia. “It’s fantastic.” Check out the boys (plus Beyonce) going “H*A*M” behind the scenes of their new album. A few days ago, Jay and Ye’s “Otis” Watch the Throne track leaked online.

“Otis,” a hard-hitting track built around a sample of Otis Redding‘s “Try A Little Tenderness,” hit the web on Wednesday night (July 20) via Funkmaster Flex’s blog. After an extended intro, “Otis” finds Jay and Kanye trading filthy rhymes, with Hov spitting, “Photo shoot fresh, looking like wealth/I’m about to call the paparazzi on myself,” and West later countering, “I made Jesus walk so I’m never going to hell/Couture-level flow, it’s never going on sale.” The track does not feature a chorus, unlike “H*A*M,” theLex Luger-produced track that was released in January. The project is slated to drop in less than two weeks.

There is finally a release date for what is likely one of the most highly-anticipated albums of the year: Watch the Throne, the joint effort of rap supernovas Jay-Z and Kanye West. The album went on presale July 4 and will arrive next month. The digital version hits Aug. 1, while the physical CD won’t hit stores until Aug. 5. (USA Today)
