Producer No. I.D. has revealed details on Jay-Z‘s upcoming album The Blueprint 3 comparing the project’s overall sound to Kanye West‘s 808s & Heartbreak from earlier this year.
Claiming he helped craft Jay’s forthcoming release, No. I.D. promised the creation would be “classic” once given the chance by fans.
“Me and Kanye have been doing a lot of work, we worked on Blueprint together,” No. I.D. revealed. “Most of the stuff, I kinda took an ego, stepped back and said, ‘Hey, let’s [Dr.] Dre and Mel-Man it. I played Mel-Man. I’m gonna say, we were doing Blueprint 3 when we did ‘Heartless.’ ‘Heartless’ made 808s & Heartbreak happen and all that is related but everything in Blueprint 3 is like 808s & Heartbreak but with more hip-hop. So it’s kinda like they related and Jay brings it around to make it hip-hop credible. It’s some records on there. That record is also gonna be something that’s gonna grow on people in a certain way and in a certain amount of time it’s gonna be a full fledged classic.” (Real Talk Express)
Jigga gave fans an update earlier this year saying there was no rush to attach a release date to his new album.
“I made a bunch of songs,” Jay said in an interview. “We gonna get to the studio and get down to what’s supposed to be on the album and when. Right now Kanye is in the process of making a new batch of music that’s gonna be phenomenal and at the end of the day, when it’s ready for the people, we’ll serve it up…I don’t [like this process] because if I don’t have any time constraints, I’ll mess around, I’ll never get it done. I’ll be the Axl Rose out here. It’ll be 12 years later…I really like the [time constraints]. But whatever happens, it may turn out better, ’cause it’ll be done when it’s right.” (MTV News)
The project was previously set to drop around February 2009.
“I’m constantly making music,” Kanye said in a teleconfernce last November. “We almost finished with Jay album. we almost finished before I even dropped my album. Jay album is coming in February.” (SOHH)
