Jay-Z Parts The Seas W/ Latest “Magna Carta” Tease, Another Guest Feature Revealed

Rap mogul Jay-Z continues to play with the minds of diehard fans eagerly awaiting his upcoming Magna Carta Holy Grail solo album by releasing a new set of lyrics and revealing Odd Future’s Frank Ocean involvement.

Jay unleashed the lyrics to his “Oceans” track Wednesday (June 26) via his Magna Carta Samsung Galaxy application.

While we still wait for the Justin Timberlake featuring single “Holy Grail”, from the eagerly anticipated and much talked about album Magna Carta Holy Grail, which is set to be released today (June 26th) and unveiling the lyrics to “Heaven” which incorporates lyrics from R.E.M‘s “Losing My Religion”, JAY Z has shared lyrics for another album cut and revealed a feature via the Magna Carta app available only on Samsung Galaxy devices. Today we get a peek at the lyrics for “Oceans” which will feature Frank Ocean, who joined Jigga and Kanye West on some track on their Watch The Throne LP. In a visual available exclusively on the app, Shawn Carter explains the meaning of the track and discusses the dualities and themes of slavery and accomplishments explored in the lyrics. Earlier this week, Jay let loose on some more songs lyrics and guest features.

Jay-Z’s new album ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ will use lyrics taken from REM’s ‘Losing My Religion’. The lyrics to the 1991 hit will feature on new song ‘Heaven’, which was revealed via Jay-Z’s Samsung app last night (June 25). The chorus of “That’s Me in the corner/That’s me in the spotlight/Losing my religion” is used repeatedly, while Jay-Z’s own lyrics include the line, “Conspiracy theorist screaming/lluminati/They can’t believe this much skill is in the human body”. Jay-Z also uses lyrics from Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ on another new album song, ‘Holy Grail’. The lyrics to the song, a collaboration with Justin Timberlake, were posted on the hip-hop mogul’s Samsung app yesterday (June 24). (NME)

The rap executive’s new Magna Carta Holy Grail album promotion is currently featured throughout 42nd Street.

Jay-Z has an album coming out, and if you didn’t know about it, you certainly do now. Following Hov’s three-minute ad takeover during the NBA Finals announcing Magna Carta Holy Grail, the hip-hop superstar has descended upon Times Square on Monday (June 24), smack dab in the middle of what some could call the world’s advertising mecca. With larger-than-life, black and white ads illuminating Broadway, Jay’s album promo can be seen from 42nd Street to 49th, glowing in the eyes of the tourist-dense crowd. Images from the NBA Finals spot show Jay at the piano and in the studio, while MagnaCartaHolyGrail.com stands around him in bold letters. The ads detail the Samsung deal the rapper has, encouraging Galaxy users to download the app, available now, to get the album. There is also buzz the chaos is expected to go down less than a week after Independence Day.

Jay-Z is planning a surprise concert atop the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater next month that will turn rush-hour Times Square into a gigantic street party, sources told The Post yesterday. The rapper is close to obtaining the necessary approvals for a July 8 “Late Show With David Letterman” performance, the sources said. The city killed the same plan in the summer of 2010 over concerns about crowd control and security. “If he gets permission from the mayor’s office, it’s going to be off the hook,” a law-enforcement source said. “They’ll have to shut down Broadway around the Letterman building. They’ll have to have a strong police presence. It’s going to be chaos with so many fans.” (New York Post)
