Rap mogul Jay Z reportedly missed out on an opportunity to help enhance Justin Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveSounds back in 2006 which resulted in Grand Hustle's T.I. cashing-in.

According to JT, he wanted to have Young Hov grace his “My Love” track but scheduling conflicts did not work out in their favor.

“I wanted to do a record with him on FutureSex/LoveSounds and he at that time had done [‘Deja Vu’] with Beyoncé. He was working on his own record as well so he didn’t want to do too many things. But the record was ‘My Love.’ It ended up being an interesting blessing in disguise ’cause I think Tip’s verse was phenomenal.” (“The Breakfast Club”)

This week, Justin unleashed a few details of an upcoming Jay joint record with him, Nas and produced by Timbaland called “Sinatra In The Sands.”

“Originally I think it was something that Tim and I, Tim obviously did the beat and I wrote a hook on it where I sort of sang in the style of Frank Sinatra. I didn’t know that Jay was gonna be on it. I haven’t heard it done, I’ve only heard what Tim and I did together. I haven’t heard any verses. It’s a mid. It gives you that feeling though of this easygoing, I don’t want to say too much about it ’cause I haven’t heard the end of it and Tim has known to go back and [say, ‘I flipped the beat.’]” (“The Angie Martinez Show”)

While there’s no word on when fans will hear the track, Timbo recently revealed Justin would appear on it.

“I told Jay this, ‘The person that gets me from hip-hop now, the album’s going to be phenomenal. That’s Nas. Nas got a song, right now, with him, Jay and Justin that’s completely stupid. It’s called ‘Sinatra In The Sands’ and Justin sounds like Frank Sinatra. Jay was like, ‘Man, what’d you do to that record?’ And I was like, ‘No way, no way. Thank y’all. This is it!'” (Revolt TV)

In early June, a leaked photo revealed Young Hov clocking in studio time with Tim, Nas and JT.

If there was a competition for hip hop collaborations, then this would surely be the “Dream Team” — Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Nas and Timbaland. The foursome have been snapped together in the studio, and they’re seemingly in good spirits as they pour over some tunes. The well-connected Lenny S–aka the “Kodak Man” – shared the photo to the 44,000-plus followers of his “Kodaklens” Instagram page. His caption reads: “JAY x JT x NAS x TIMBO Rat Pack sh*t. For some this is “Work”… For us it’s just Fun. #RocNation” Quite what the fruits of those “fun” sessions sound like is the big unanswered question. (Billboard)
