According to reports, Jay and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne single has jumped seven spots forward to No. 8.

With the jump, “Throne” generates its first Hot 100 top 10 after “H*A*M” (included on the album after its January release) reached No. 29; “Otis,” featuring the late Otis Redding, rose to No. 12; and, “Who Gon Stop Me” peaked at No. 44. The set has sold 1.1 million copies. As “Paris” climbs, Jay-Z nets his 18th Hot 100 top 10, passing Lil Wayne and Ludacris (17 each) for the most top 10s among rappers in the chart’s archives. West tallies his 14th top 10 with the advance. (Billboard)

In November, actor/comedian Will Ferrell reacted to Hov and Ye sampling his Blades of Glory 2007 flick for the avant-garde track.

“Kanye reached out to me and I said, ‘Of course,’ ” Ferrell wrote in an e-mail referring to the Blades of Glory sample request. “I was completely flattered when they asked if they could sample me into the song … and when I heard it for the first time, I just started to laugh because it felt so surreal. But I really did like the song.” So much so, in fact, that Ferrell said he’s hoping to take the Throne collaboration to the next level — “We were trying to film a piece that they would use on the video boards of their concert, but haven’t gotten it together,” he wrote — and the whole process has opened his eyes to an entirely new career opportunity: Being the go-to sample guy on the hip hop circuit. “I think [something from] ‘Step Brothers’ would be good [to use in a song],” he wrote. “Or the Woody Allen movie I did, ‘Melinda and Melinda.'” (MTV)

The record’s popularity has even resulted in T.I. appearing on its unofficial remix.

A while back the Grand Hustle general mentioned that he might be on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “N*ggas in Paris (Remix).” When asked about the status of that record, T.I. said, “Well, I officially have recorded my verse. And I haven’t spoken to ‘Ye. I let ‘Ye hear it . I think ‘Ye let Jay hear it as well. I don’t think a determination has been made on whether or not it is going to be official. But if it’s not official, it will be unofficial. It will be heard one way or another. I will assure you that.” But that’s not all. T.I. wants to add his vocals to more songs. “I’m looking for some more records to jump on,” he said. “That’s what I’m doin’ right now. I’m commandeering hit records right now. I’m hijacking hit records. If you got a hit I’m on it.” (XXL Mag)

To date, Jay and Ye’s new joint effort has sold over 1.1 million copies since its summer release.

Grammy-winning rap duo Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne moved down 12 notches to No. 42 with 20,000. After 17 weeks, their joint effort has sold 1,123,900 pieces. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
