According to new reports, the project will be made available on August 1st.

There is finally a release date for what is likely one of the most highly-anticipated albums of the year: Watch the Throne, the joint effort of rap supernovas Jay-Z and Kanye West. The album went on presale July 4 and will arrive next month. The digital version hits Aug. 1, while the physical CD won’t hit stores until Aug. 5. (USA Today)

Last week, a 2012 release date was posted on Def Jam’s website.

The release date for Watch The Throne, Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaborative album has been released. According to the Def Jam website, the highly-anticipated LP will drop on July 6… 2012. Wow. That is much later than fans would have thought/wanted. Do you think it’s a smart move for the two hip hop heavyweights, who were seen going “H.A.M.” earlier today, to wait an entire year to release the project? Is this the real date? (College DJ)

Earlier this month, pre-orders for the album became available.

Fans are about to go H.A.M. As speculation over the Jay-Z and Kanye West collaboration album Watch the Throne continues to grow, fans can start to put their money down as Def Jam has begun taking pre-orders Monday (July 4). As far as a release date, the ship date on customer receipts is listed as 2011-08-02. (Rapfix)

A few weeks ago, reports of a July 4th release hit the Internet.

The Source has received a solid date for the release of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaborative and highly anticipated album Watch The Throne: July 4th. The information was shared exclusively to The Source by a source very close to the Hov and Ye super project. Later on this evening there will be a G.O.O.D. Music event presented by Heineken and Kanye West held at a still undisclosed location in New York City. Rumors are speculating that at said event, Kanye and Jay-Z might be making an announcement about the July 4th release date. Once the July 4th date is confirmed, remember that you heard it here first. Fireworks indeed. (The Source)
