According to reports, the project will now be released in early August.

Fans are about to go H.A.M. As speculation over the Jay-Z and Kanye West collaboration album Watch the Throne continues to grow, fans can start to put their money down as Def Jam has begun taking pre-orders Monday (July 4). As far as a release date, the ship date on customer receipts is listed as 2011-08-02. Fans who log onto Jay-Z’s Life and Times lifetsyle site can see the Watch the Throne cover on full display on the homepage. The cover is divided into 30 panels and folks who click on any one of the panels will be taken to a page where they can pre-order the CD. Once they click to pre-order fans are re-directed to the Island Def Jam page where they can enter their credit card information. (Rapfix)

The LP has various set prices depending on which version fans purchase.

The first joint effort by the two superstar rappers is being offered in four different versions: a standard CD with 10 songs for $13.99 or the deluxe version for $16.99 with special packaging and four bonus tracks. Both are also available in MP3 form. (The Hollywood Reporter)

A few weeks ago, reports of a July 4th release hit the Internet.

The Source has received a solid date for the release of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaborative and highly anticipated album Watch The Throne: July 4th. The information was shared exclusively to The Source by a source very close to the Hov and Ye super project. Later on this evening there will be a G.O.O.D. Music event presented by Heineken and Kanye West held at a still undisclosed location in New York City. Rumors are speculating that at said event, Kanye and Jay-Z might be making an announcement about the July 4th release date. Once the July 4th date is confirmed, remember that you heard it here first. Fireworks indeed. (The Source)

Music network VH1 later came forward to dismantle an Independence Day release.

Contrary to reports earlier today that speculated that Watch The Throne, Kanye West and Jay-Z’s highly anticipated new collaborative album, would be released on July 4, VH1 can exclusively confirm that the record will NOT be dropping on our nation’s birthday. We spoke to sources close to Jay-Z’s management team earlier today who have direct knowledge of the album’s release plans, and they confirmed that the rumored July 4th release date is “not happening.” Sorry to ruin your holiday, folks!
