According to reports, the two mega music acts will link up December 31st to help ring in 2013.

Jay-Z rang in the Barclays Center in September — and now he’ll ring out 2012 in the same new venue. The arena announced Sunday that the rap superstar and Coldplay will co-headline a New Year’s Eve show at the arena at the corner of Flatbush and Atlantic Aves. Coldplay will perform solo the night before. The band’s appearance are the first public shows in the city since 2005. Jay-Z opened the Barclays Center with a sold-out eight-concert stand beginning Sept. 28. (NY Daily News)

The rock band also issued a statement confirming the New Year’s Eve festivities.

“We’re pleased to announce that, on Monday, Dec. 31, Coldplay will round off a memorable year by performing a very special co-headline show with Jay-Z at Barclays Center, Brooklyn. This will be the second time in two years that Coldplay has celebrated new year with long-term friend and collaborator Jay-Z, the band having shared the bill with him at a Las Vegas concert in 2010. More recently, Jay-Z performed onstage with Coldplay at the spectacular London 2012 Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony.” (Statement)

Recently, former Barclays Center construction worker/rapper D. Chamberz hit up SOHH with exclusive details on the arena’s fancy blueprint.

“Let me tell you something. It’s funny that everybody always talks about the 40/40 Club at Barclays. Let me tell you something, not only is there a 40/40 Club in there, there’s a Calvin Klein lounge downstairs. If you have money and depending on what type of season tickets you buy, there’s a deal where if you get it for three years for something like $500,000, you have, like a condo that’s downstairs. In there, you can always be in-tune with the games, check out the practice court, they’ve got their own basketball section. Then you have the suites which are in-between floors where there’s actually a press box and people can actually stay there and be at a different part of the stadium the whole time. There’s restaurants, bars, people that are going to cater to you, they’ve got every store that you can think of from downtown Brooklyn in there. They even got a Nathan’s in there. It’s ridiculous in there.” (SOHH Guest Star)

Following Young Hov’s inaugural Barclays Center concert series, he released his Live in Brooklyn EP.

Jay-Z will be releasing an EP of his concert series at the Barclays Center, the rapper announced Saturday afternoon. The album, Live in Brooklyn, will be available through iTunes on Tuesday, October 9th. The “optic EP” will include both audio and visual material recorded at tonight’s final concert of Jay-Z’s eight-night run at the new Brooklyn stadium. The EP is currently available for pre-order on iTunes. While the track listing on the pre-order site is blank, it indicates that the album will include eight tracks and eight separate videos.
