Lyrics from the unreleased track hit the Internet late Wednesday (July 3).

Grammy-winning rapper Jay-Z, who can now represent MLB and NBA players as an agent, took the time out of his busy schedule to rap about Scott Boras. Yes, the same Scott Boras that used to represent New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano. Now, Cano is signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports. Jay-Z will release his highly-anticipated album “Magna Carta Holy Grail” on Thursday and name-checked Boras on the song, “Crown.” “Scott Boras, you over baby. Robinson Cano, you coming with me,” Jay-Z raps on the song. (Sports Illustrated)

Boras has already responded to Young Hov’s comments but made sure to watch his words.

“I’m a fan of jazz,” Boras told ESPNNewYork.com’s Wallace Matthews, “and my favorite musician is Bernie Williams. What other musician could play center field for the Yankees and win four world championships?” Boras also spoke to Rovell, without directly addressing Jay-Z or Cano. “What I’ve learned through my time in the business is that you can’t worry about external factors,” Boras said. “You just have to focus on being the best you can be. I’ve been asked to negotiate all kinds of things. And I don’t do that because I am singularly committed to the game of baseball. My company doesn’t do anything else.” (ESPN)

Back in April, Hov publicly spoke out on launching Roc Nation Sports with Cano.

Cano will be co-represented by CAA, a leading sports and entertainment agency, and Roc Nation Sports, a branch of a company founded by Jay-Z. Jay-Z announced the launch of Roc Nation Sports as a full-service sports management company on Tuesday. “Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years,” Jay-Z said. Last month, Jigga officially became a licensed NBA sports agent.

And yesterday, the Sports Business Journal revealed that he won’t have to do it through Creative Artists Agency, the sports agency that Roc Nation partnered up with back in April. That’s because, as of this week, Jay-Z is officially licensed to be an NBA agent. So he will be able to sign new clients and negotiate on their behalf moving forward. All of that being said, it’s still a little unclear how soon Jay-Z will actually sign his first client (who, by the way, is widely rumored to be Kevin Durant). A source who spoke with ESPN.com yesterday revealed that Jay is still holding onto a small stake in the Brooklyn Nets, which means that he cannot serve as an NBA agent just yet due to an NBA rule that says team owners cannot be agents. But as soon as he unloads his stake in the Nets, he’ll be free to start signing players immediately. (Complex)
