Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z has offered words of support for Rihanna in regards to last week’s domestic dispute she had with boyfriend Chris Brown.
The rap star addressed the seriousness of her situation and called on all to support his young female protege.
“This is a real situation,” Jay said in an interview. “You have to have compassion for others. Just imagine it being your sister or mom and then think about how we should talk about that…I just think we should all support her. She’s goin through a tough time. You have to realize she’s a young girl, as well. She’s very young.” (People)
Jay’s performance at last week’s Grammy ceremony was reportedly altered due to learning of the domestic dispute.
Right after news of the beat-down surfaced last weekend, several media outlets reported that Jay-Z was furious at Brown for hitting Rihanna, whom he considers a protege. They pointed to his low-key performance at the Grammys as evidence that he was upset over the attack, which forced Rihanna and Brown to scrap planned appearances at the gala. (New York Daily News)
An unnamed source close to the rap star was recently quoted saying Jay was plotting revenge on Brown.
Hip-hop powerhouse Jay-Z was enraged when he heard that Brown allegedly beat up Rihanna, the R&B star whom Jay-Z discovered and mentored. “He hit the roof,” a source close to him said. “Chris is a walking dead man. He messed with the wrong crew.” (US Weekly)
After a week of silence, Brown released a statement on Sunday (February 15).
“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writing under my name are frauds.” (TMZ)
