Weeks after the threat of more celebrities having their personal records exposed appearing to be over, even more high-profile entertainers have fallen into the hackers' wrath.
According to reports, the latest celebrities range from Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie to sports star Michael Vick.
Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga are the two newest victims of the celebrity hackers who had already exposed the financial secrets of Michelle Obama and Beyonce … TMZ has learned. The hackers returned to the Internet after a brief hiatus … and immediately hit six more A-list victims, including Angelina, Gaga, NRA advocate Wayne LaPierre, Dennis Rodman, Michael Vick, Secret Service Director ?Julia Pierson and Robert De Niro. The hackers have posted what they claim to be the social security numbers, mortgage amounts, credit card info, car loans, banking and other info for the celebs listed on their site. (TMZ)
Coincidentally, it appeared the hackers’ days of reigning havoc across the Internet were over in mid-March.
They were looking for loot, but instead got some laughs. The hackers’ fun was short-lived, however. They posted a farewell message on their website Saturday — and hours later, the site was down. “We have enjoyed every minute of the past 12 days of providing entertainment and laughs to all of you,” the rambling message read, according to TMZ.com. “Sadly it’s time to say bon voyage — we hope — inspiration, fear, denial, happiness, approval, disapproval, mockery, embarrassment, thoughtfulness, jealousy, hate, even love. If you believe that God makes miracles, you have to wonder if Satan has a few up his sleeve.” (New York Daily News)
A few days prior, reports suggested the criminals were using the financial and personal information they obtained for their own personal gain.
The hackers who obtained Michelle Obama‘s financial records — along with some of the biggest celebs in the world — aren’t just seeking recognition … law enforcement sources tell TMZ they have been “using” the credit information. Our sources would not be specific on how the information has been used, but it could involve access and withdrawal of money. As we previously reported, the hackers have obtained personal banking information as well as social security numbers and that could be enough to obtain withdrawals of cash. We’re also told the FBI has been “aggressively investigating” the case … and it also strikes close to home, because one of the victims is FBI Director Robert Mueller. Our sources also make it clear … the FBI knew about the hackers before they made themselves public. We’re told, “The investigation did NOT start yesterday.” (TMZ)
They not only targeted music celebrities, but victims included a slew of Hollywood stars like Paris Hilton.
Add hackers to the list of Jay-Z‘s 99 problems: the rapper, along with wife Beyoncé, was one of a bevy of stars whose financial records have been exposed and posted online. Britney Spears, Vice President Joe Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Ashton Kutcher, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Mel Gibson, and former presidential candidate Sarah Palin are among those who have been targeted by the website, which has an Internet suffix assigned to Russia. Some of the information posted includes Social Security numbers, which makes identity theft easily available for potential defrauders. (Rolling Stone)
