Jay Electronica Helps Jay Z Target Drake: “Sorry Mr. Drizzy For So Much Art Talk” [Audio]

Roc Nation’s Jay Electronica may ultimately be responsible for sparking a mini-feud between boss Jay Z and Young Money protégé Drake courtesy of his new “We Made It” remix.

The unexpected Roc Nation duo’s gem surfaced online Sunday (March 23).

Jay Electronica has released more music in the last month than he did in all of 2012 and 2013 combined. Already this month we’ve heard him remix The Notorious B.I.G.‘s “N*ggas Bleed” and release a new original composition called “Better in Tune with the Infinite”. Today, he returns with a remix of Drake’s “We Made It” (which itself is a remix of a Soula Boy track). (Consequence of Sound)

Jigga takes direct aim at Drizzy and defends his knack for rhyming about high-profile art.

Hov takes the opportunity to stunt on his haters with a killer verse. “Sorry Mr. Drizzy for so much art talk / Silly me rapping about sh*t that I really bought / While these rappers rap about guns they ain’t shot and a bunch of other silly sh*t that they ain’t got / I’m on my Lupita Nyong’o / Stuntin’ on stage after 12 Years a Slave,” he boasts. In a recent interview, Drake specifically called out Jay over his art references.

Drake is interested in art, but he scoffs at how trendy art shout-outs have become in rap. “It’s like Hov can’t drop bars these days without at least four art references!” he says. “I would love to collect at some point, but I think the whole rap/art world thing is getting kind of corny.” (Rolling Stone)

Earlier this month, Soulja Boy revealed plans to release a music video with Drake for their “We Made It” remix.

“We gonna make a video for sure. Video is coming. The treatment is crazy. It’s coming for sure. I think people are going to like it, man. I’m just turning up. I am just doing me. Drake, that’s the homie. People really like that record. Everywhere I go, they play it. Everywhere, it is getting bigger than I thought it was going to be. You gotta catch up to it.” (XXL Mag)
