Ja Rule Readies His Kids For School, “I Try To Keep Them Focused”

Grammy-nominated rapper Ja Rule recently sat down with SOHH to discuss how he gets his kids ready to go back to school during a time when iPods tend to outweigh studies.

When it comes to back to school shopping, Rule told SOHH his wife is takes control.

“Man, I ain’t even gonna front,” he told SOHH. “I don’t do the clothes shopping, they really get what they want. So it’s all good. [laughs] My oldest one, they have their iPods and their accessories for school but the main thing is to get your focus and your mind ready. All that extra sh*t is cool but you know, I try to keep them focused on their book [studies] and their work.” (SOHH)

Ja recently released a full-length album called The Mirror on DoctorExclusive.com.

“The album was leaked already so I’m really just putting it out there for the people who didn’t really get a chance to hear it,” Ja explained. “There’s some extra records on there that I put on there that I didn’t necessarily record for The Mirror and there are a couple of records that were recorded for The Mirror but didn’t leak. A lot of people didn’t hear a lot of the records, so if you’re not a die-hard Ja Rule fan, then you probably didn’t hear a lot of the records or not at all…You gotta understand, The Mirror was made almost three years ago now so there’s a couple of jabs on The Mirror, I ain’t gonna front [laughs]…Newz is on The Mirror. He did a record on there called ‘300’ with me.” (SOHH)

Rule previously spoke on the concept behind The Mirror in a 2007 interview.

“I have conversations with myself,” he explained. “I talk to the guy in the mirror. He never answers back; it’s always the same guy that asks the questions and answers the questions…But the funny thing about that is, it’s your moment of truth. You can’t lie to yourself. And I’m sitting there and I’m looking in the mirror, and I’m saying to myself … ‘This person you see in the mirror…you know who this person is, you know him very well. But is this the same person that your public sees when you walk outside? No. They don’t have a clue who the f— that person is in that mirror.'” (MTV)
