Roc Nation rapper J. Cole has decided to get fans even more excited about his highly-anticipated Born Sinner solo album by releasing the project’s deluxe cover art this week.
While there is a standard cover, Cole’s special edition version features a devil-like child looking up at a hand-drawn golden crown.
Here goes the official album cover for the deluxe edition of J. Cole’s upcoming sophomore album Born Sinner, which was revealed by the New Zealand iTunes store and listing a June 14th release date. That probably means it’s due in the United States on June 18th, a week up from it’s original planned date. The standard edition of the album features 16 tracks while the deluxe has 21. (HHNM)
Earlier this spring Cole could not resist announcing his LP release date on Twitter.
Taking to his Twitter, Cole wrote “said i would never announce on twitter, but damn, since i f*cked up that first one (but what a moment!) …… Born Sinner June 25th. – Cole.” Since delaying the album, Cole had previously pleased plans with the Truly Yours EP. Now, he’s got two and a half months to make sure Born Sinner isn’t delayed again. (Exclaim)
Back in February, the North Carolina-bred emcee admitted he jumped the gun with the project’s initial drop date.
“They were cool with it, like ‘Whatever you wanna do’,” Cole said of the label reaction at Roc Nation and Columbia when he initially announced that he was going to drop his album at the top of 2013. Since then, the rapper admits that his original release date didn’t give him time to do it right. “Really that was a bad move. We decided that we got everybody playing on the same team and the same frequency. This is the sophomore album let’s not f— around,” the Fayetteville, North Carolina, MC told MTV News during a sit-down on February 16 in Houston. “Let’s really roll this out right, get the proper single, get the proper videos, proper brands. There are certain things that you can line up to make an album feel bigger.” (MTV)
A month prior, he said his long-awaited sophomore release needed more time to perfect.
J. Cole fans will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on his sophomorealbum Born Sinner. The Roc Nation rapper has delayed the project. While hosting a New Year’s Eve gig at TAO Las Vegas, Cole revealed that the follow-up to his 2011 debut Cole World: The Sideline Story won’t arrive on his 28th birthday, as previously announced. “It’s not gonna make January 28. It’s gonna be a little later than that. I needed more time,” he told PopStop TV. The first single, “Miss America,” was released in November. (Rap-Up)
