In the black and white photos, fans see both emcees kicked back in basketball shorts while cooped up in a studio.

“Sh*t just got real, Got my n*gga K. Dot in the Ville as I type this” – J. Cole With the news that their long awaited joint album is currently in creation, Roc Nation’s very own J.Cole and Black Hippy/TDE representative Kendrick Lamar tease us with a look at their recording session. Having already worked together on ‘HiiiPoWeR,’ J.Cole’s production for Lamar and both featuring on Trae Tha Truth‘s ‘I’m On 2.0’, only magic can come from the joint album. (Soul Culture UK)

The photos come a few days after Lamar finally confirmed the joint album plans and revealed he aimed to link up with Cole this week.

“And is there any truth, J. Cole had did an interview recently and said y’all two might be collaborating on a full project. Is that going to happen,” Terrence J asked Lamar. “Right, I’m flying out tonight. Love that,” Lamar responded. “Stop back by when y’all bring that to us,” Terrence added. “Bet that,” Lamar said. Speculation developed on a collaborative album last week when Cole hinted at a joint effort alongside Kendrick.

“I just started working with Kendrick the other day,” Cole said. “We got it in, finally, again.” After confirming the project will be an album, not a mixtape, he said the pair left the session with four of five songs together. “We actually worked, bouncing ideas, which was great,” Cole said. “The vibe was so good that it was like, ‘Man, that’s absolutely gonna happen.'” (Fay Observer)

While Cole has made Roc Nation his home, Lamar officially joined forces with Interscope Records in March.

According to Top Dawg Entertainment founder Anthony Tiffith, his company has secured a joint distribution deal with Interscope Records and Aftermath Entertainment for the Compton rapper and his group Black Hippy. Under the new deal Kendrick Lamar’s projects, including his upcoming album Good Kid in a Mad City will be jointly released via Top Dawg Entertainment/Interscope Records/Aftermath Entertainment while releases from the rest of Black Hippy (Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and Schoolboy Q) will be distributed via Top Dawg Entertainment and Interscope.
