Currently riding the wave of his hit video and remix to "Dance (A$$)", Detroit rapper Big Sean recently sat down with SOHH to discussed his presence in the hip-hop game.
When SOHH told the young MC that DJ Holiday named the artist as a star to watch, Sean was humbled by the salute.
“That’s real recognize real. I can be happy enough about how things have been going for me, so for people to see that, recognize it and go out their way for me really means alot. I can’t be thankful enough.” (SOHH)
Sean, whose debut album Finally Famous, dropped this past June, says his music that captures life as he knows it.
Believe in yourself over what you see. I’m makin’ music people can ride to, smoke to and have sex to because that’s the type of life I live.”(SOHH)
According to Holiday, he became a believer after seeing Sean’s performance in last year’s BET Awards Hip-hop cypher.
“I had just took notice of Big Sean at last year’s cypher. I had been in around for a couple of shows he did in Atlanta, but I wasn’t a true fan yet. But we officially met, got cool and I began listening to his mixtapes. Then I saw him in the cypher and liked his delivery. The whole G.O.O.D. Music family are cool.” (SOHH)
Atlanta spitter 2 Chainz recently spoke on his collaboration with Sean on the DJ Drama album, Third Power
“I’m real acquainted with my rap peers. I’ve got a song with Big Sean on the Drama album, Third Power. I know me and Sean working together might look crazy on paper but [musically] it fits. It’s two young n*ggas coming into the game and knocking down barriers. It’s swag.” (SOHH)
DJ Drama also co-signs the Detroit MC, as he cites Sean’s playful lyricism and cross-culture appeal as major strengths.
“Big Sean is a guy who’s got a bright future. Lyrically, one of the best out there. Had a great album this year. His wordplay is ill: It’s sharp but it’s kinda silly. You know? There’s not a lot of people that can get that off. The hood f-ck with him, girls f-ck with him, the Hip Hop geeks f-ck with him so he brings a lot to the table with what he does.”(SOHH)
