White Girl Mob's V-Nasty has continued to defend her past usage of the controversial term, "nigga," and said the word should be off limits to people of all races.
Claiming Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane had no problem with her dropping N-bombs, Nasty said her decision to limit the usage came from people feeling disrespected.
“Gucci Mane had no problem with it. Gucci Mane told me, sh*t, I’m more street than these muthaf*ckas that are talkin’ about me saying the N-word,” Nasty said in an interview. “Everybody tells me that. Nobody ever actually came to my face and said, “You can’t say the N-word.” You know what I’m sayin’? I feel like a lot of people were feeling disrespected. I don’t want people to feel like I’m racist, or whatever the fact is. I’d rather just have a positive way, and show them that that word does not make me. … I don’t feel like it has anything to do with race. I feel like people use that word the way I use it. You know what I’m sayin’? If I can’t say it, then basically nobody should be able to say it then, you know what I’m sayin’? I don’t give a f*ck!” (XXL Mag)
Last month, Miami rapper Trina stood up for V-Nasty’s controversial N-word usage.
“I don’t see what the big deal about it is,” Trina said in an interview. “It’s a matter of respect, if you’re not being disrespectful, if you’re not doing it in a racist way…I’m not really the person that cares too much about all that. … Let’s worry about voting for Barack Obama for president again. I don’t think the N-word is such a big deal, we’ve been saying it for years, decades, white, blacks, Hispanic, Jamaican, Haitian, Chinese whatever. It is what it is, we didn’t create it, we didn’t start it and we’re not going to be the last to say it. It’s going to continue on and on and on so we just need to focus on what’s important.” (BET)
In September, V-Nasty contemplated retiring the word’s usage.
“I’m even thinking about giving up [saying the n-word],” Nasty said in a video. “I’m not faking [when I say it]…It’s diversity. OK? It’s crazy because I’ll be with my partners doing my everyday thing, but now, everybody’s making it known, like, ‘Oh, she said the n-word and she’s white.’ You feel me? Now, I’m seeing that it’s different other places, so when I be in the hood doing my regular thing with my best friend, I shouldn’t even be thinking about that sh*t. They the ones making me think about this sh*t, bruh. I ain’t never thought about no colors or nothing, bruh. Y’all motherf*ckers are racist, man.” (Persona Magazine)
In late July, she responded to critics slamming her for frequently dropping N-bombs.
“On some real n*gga sh*t — how I really feel about these motherf*ckers talking about, ‘Why is V-Nasty saying the N-word?’ you motherf*ckers have never walked in my shoes, bruh … Is it a f*cking race? — Am I offending people or using it in a disrespectful type of way?
