Details of the speeding incident have started to make way across the Internet.

If this is NWA, then the “A” stands for acceleration … because Ice Cube’s tour bus got pulled over for speeding this afternoon in Durham, North Carolina. A rep for the Granville County Sheriff’s Department wouldn’t say how fast the bus was gunning it along I-85 North, but the speed limit on that road is 70 mph … so the driver really must’ve been hauling ass. But lucky for him, we’re told the driver was let off with a warning — no tickets issued — and Ice Cube was nice enough to get out and sign autographs for a bunch of the officers. (TMZ)

Yesterday, Chicago rapper Chief Keef pleaded guilty after being arrested last month for speeding.

Chief Keef, who has been arrested several times recently, had just pleaded guilty to driving 110 mph in a 55 mph zone along the Edens and was scolded by the judge, who ordered him not to drive. “You think you’re invincible, and you’re certainly not,” Cook County Circuit Court Judge Earl Hoffenberg said. “Violate (conditions of the plea agreement) and you’ll find out you’re not. … I sure hope I don’t see you again, because if I do, you better be ready to go to jail.” The judge fined him $531, put him on probation for 18 months and ordered him to perform 60 hours of community service and undergo random drug testing. He also must complete eight hours of traffic school. (Chicago Tribune)

Cube recently talked about hitting the road for a “Kings of the Mic” tour alongside his all-time favorite emcee Chuck D.

“It’s like being on tour with your big brother,” Cube says. “He’s just one of those dudes who — pound for pound, lyric for lyric — has done the most out of any emcee, because he ain’t just rapping no bulls–. … It’s something real. And even when rapping about bulls– is popular, I mean he still stick to what he do. That’s great. For artists like myself, and him being one of my peers and me really looking up to Chuck, it’s good that he sticks to the script.” (Metro)

The rap icon celebrated his 44th birthday last weekend.

On this day, June 15, in hip-hop history… 1969: Ice Cube celebrates his 44th birthday. The rapper, songwriter, producer, director, and screenplay writer first made his debut in the entertainment world in the politically controversial west-side rap group, N.W.A. Dubbed “The World’s Most Dangerous Group,” Ice Cube, along with his N.W.A members, gave the world a style of music that represented the political struggles of young men growing up in urban communities.
