Former N.W.A. member Ice Cube recently shared his thoughts on the tensions between Young Money’s Drake and Maybach Music Group’s Rick Ross following multiple diss records dropping.

Cube, who notoriously dropped diss songs at past greats like N.W.A. and Common, admitted Drizzy had the upper hand in the dispute as of now.

“Drake is winning right now,” Cube laughed, before graciously adding a charitable stay of execution for Mill. “But, you know… Meek could come back. … It’s funny. To me it’s like going back to the essence of hip-hop: Who can rap the best? I don’t think anybody’s going to get jumped or get their asses whooped, but it’s fun to sit back and watch.” (The Daily Beast)

Last night (August 3), Drake took direct aim at Meek during his annual OVO Fest music concert.

New York rapper A$AP Rocky recently applauded both hip-hop stars but admitted Drizzy had the edge.

“I think Meek will be fine,” he said. “I think he has a fanbase of his own, and I think that at the end of the day, there had to be a loser in the outcome, and it was Meek. So it is what it is. … That sh-t was incredible, and I wanna thank Drake and Meek Mill for such a good battle. I come from an old school aesthetic — me being 26 — coming from the point of, when I was coming up, it was all about writing your rhymes, and I’m quite sure for R&B songs, if someone’s giving you [lyrics], that’s nothing. I don’t know. I would have to see. I don’t know what to believe.” (MTV)

Footage of rap star Lil Wayne vibing out to Drizzy’s “Back to Back” Meek Mill freestyle diss recently bubbled online last weekend.

  1. I don’t understand how Meek could be losing this lol. And Ice Cube is right, It could easily switch.. All Meek needs to do is get in the studio, record a proper diss with factual shit about Drake’s real history, premiere it at a concert while playing pics and vids of Drake in his Degrassi days. Drake’s imaginary street cred would drop from 100-0, and he most likely wouldn’t know how to come back at Meek. Drake may have the sales, which is what he is using to win at the moment, but as soon as it becomes a battle of street cred, it is pretty much over for Drizzy. This beef is so lame, they should just squash it though.

    • He can’t. Financially it’s too risky. 3 of the last 4 Shows for the tour are in Canada. If he were to Ether Drake the fallout would be too massive. He’d have to give up those 3 dates.

      • Yeah , he gotta b really smart, at this point, IMO, Meek can rap circles around dude, but Drakes a calculated guy, wit alot of fans…u cant just react, u gotta think

        • Yeah, Drake was calculated especially with Charged Up. Meek’s “Wanna Know” felt rushed and it wasn’t quite as calculated. Plus he went too silent for too long after his twitter rant. It makes him look weak by being too quiet for too long. Drake took the lead and kept running. It kills me that Drake is winning this but in the end I think he took a more intelligent approach and right now it looks like Meek will need something seriously banging to jump back up.

        • lol Meek can’t rap circles around himself. This dude has forever been trash and never understood his appeal. He done just face it.

      • Oh I completely agree with you. Financially it wouldn’t make sense. But what I mean is if you put the finance aside, it wouldn’t be very hard to ether Drake.

    • I agree, but Meek gotta go back to meek from philli, not meek from the South, I had a hard time understanding him, like he refuses to let his lips touch when he’s talking… he needs to go hard, make it about American streets and hiphop… He gotta go hard at this point… the opportunity is there, he just didn’t take it.

  2. The truth to all this is that at the end of the day 8/10 of the people who would BUY, RETWEET, help SUPPORT Drake could care less how his music is created as long as it sounds good coming out those speakers. A lot of those people have heard him way back in the days with bars also so all of this is kind of one ear out the other. Drake wont lose a dime. Meek however will have the Drake loyalists coming for him or not giving his music a chance just because of this. Me personally Idgaf, as long as its not written for him all the time etc. Opinions?

  3. I dunno he would’ve had a better chance if he dropped nothing. That would’ve at least build up suspense. This is one sided and I don’t see this changing anytime soon.
