Cash Money Records rapper Bow Wow recently spoke on his run in the rap game and why he feels fans do not give him the credit he deserves.
Bow Wow believes fans’ short term memory loss contributes to his underrated status.
“I feel like a lot of dudes who get recognition in the game, I’ve been doing it longer than them and I think people are stuck in the right now, that they forget about the past and that’s one thing that I don’t do,” Bow Wow explained in an interview referring to his underrated status. “That’s a discredit to somebody’s past and especially their numbers, because like [Jay-Z] said: ‘They don’t lie, stats don’t lie.’ I just get tired of that sometimes, when you work so hard and you’re passionate about what you do, you want to get acknowledged for it. Other than Eminem and Jay-Z, I can’t tell you another rapper who has sold out Madison Square Garden five times, besides me! I’m in that bracket, but people won’t say that because they are so caught up with the past and Lil’ Bow Wow and are not focused on the current.” (The Wrap Up)
Last December, Soulja Boy Tell Em acknowledged Bow Wow’s rap achievements.
“I definitely look at it like that, I know I opened a lot of doors but there’s other people that opened a lot of doors that don’t get the respect that they need,” said Soulja. “Like Bow Wow, I feel like he opened a lot of doors and people don’t never give him the respect that he deserve. Just everyone since the beginning of hip-hop, it just keeps going and somebody new come in.” (RapFix)
In early November, Bow Wow revealed his internal feelings about having made a career in hip-hop.
“I swear i be wishing i was dead sometimes. Because i feel like that’s the only way ill get peace.,” Bow tweeted Saturday (November 6).
“People don’t know me man. Yall don’t … start looking at Shad. Not Bow wow. F*ck Bow. I go through sh*t daily. I’m Just like yall”

After the tweets made headlines, Slim Thug shared his shocked reaction to Bow Wow’s feelings.
“I’m nowhere near Lil Wayne or T.I. with success but I feel so blessed and successful to be where I’m at,” Slim said in an interview. “So I never felt like I wish I was dead. Bow Wow is trippin’ and he need to shake whatever that is off and understand he blessed. He got a lot of success. At the end of the day this n*gga made hits and he got songs I like. He need to be proud of whatever the f*ck he did and shake that sh*t and don’t ever say no sh*t like that again. For real that’s real sh*t right there.” (XXL Mag)
