Pop sensation Justin Bieber recently reflected on collaborating with Grammy-winning rapper/producer Kanye West and discussed the controversial artist’s fear of phones.
According to Bieber, West avoids using a BlackBerry or iPhone.
“[West] reproduced the ‘Runaway’ joint, and I’m really excited,” Bieber said in an interview. “It was amazing — He’s such a cool guy, and he’s just really laid back and just nice, and at the end of the day, he’s just a nice person…It’s funny, because he doesn’t even use a phone; he just sends e-mail. It’s so crazy. I’m like, ‘How can you not use a phone?'” (MTV)
Last summer, West tweeted that he did not own a cell phone.
“I don’t own a cell phone… No seriously, I don’t own a cell phone!,” West tweeted August 6th, 2010. (Kanye West’s Twitter)
Phone phobia aside, Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun said West is very interested in working on the singer’s forthcoming sophomore album.
“He’s been talking to Drake about new music. [Bieber] and Kanye had a call today about a song they’re trying to work on together; Kanye wants to produce a bunch of new songs for the new album. He’s talked with Rascal Flatts. Him and Chris Brown have been sending stuff back and forth to each other.” (MTV)
G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks recently said he would hop on a track with Bieber.
“I would definitely do a record with Justin Bieber. I think early on in my career things were a little different. Now, the fact of the matter is the youth determine which way music is going to go,” explains Banks. “When you become influential enough to control one market, I think it’s time to cross-market.” (VIBE)
After Bieber released his “Speaking In Tungs” freestyle last fall under the rap alias “Shawty Mane”, Dipset affiliate Vado gave the singer his co-sign.
“I was shocked! He killed it! He sounded like [Notorious] B.I.G.,” Vado said in an interview. “When I seen it on Twitter, I didn’t believe it. We need to keep his verse for the remix! We might finish the remix this weekend, and let Justin go first. I’m definitely going to contact him.” (New York Daily News)
Justin Bieber’s My World 2.0 debut album has sold over 2 million copies since its release last year.
