Zino believes rising popularity of digital technology is forcing print publications to seek new strategies.

“We want to take the magazine game to new heights, to try new things and be creative to bring things back to the print side,” Zino told SOHH via a statement from Mays. “Nowadays, with everything going to the computer, you really have to be on your A game, and use your creativity to keep people interested.” (SOHH)

An announcement of the upcoming swimsuit calendar was made earlier this week.

Hip Hop Weekly is proud to announce the first ever Flawless Beauties 3-D swimsuit calendar set for release July 20, 2010, and dated August 2010 through July of 2011. The calendar features 12 of the most beautiful and exotic ladies from every ethnicity drawn from every corner of the world dressed in custom made bikinis and bathing suits by FB Legacy. The package comes with a custom pair of 3-D glasses which enhance the experience of the calendar. The calendar’s stunning cover girl is Cuban-Lebanese model, Sagia Castaneda. (Hip Hop Press)

Hip Hop Weekly was launched roughly three years ago by Dave Mays and Benzino.

Hip Hop Weekly is the first hip hop oriented magazine to feature weekly breaking news and views about entertainment, TV, music, fashion and sports to consumers aged 15 to 44. Launched in 2007 by David Mays and Raymond “Benzino” Scott, who pioneered the concept of the hip hop magazine by founding The Source in Mays’ Harvard dorm room in 1988, Hip Hop Weekly is now the #1 selling hip hop title on newsstands, outselling The Source, Vibe and former industry leader XXL. Zino is most renowned for launching The Source in 1988.

Along with David Mays, his partner for over 20 years, Benzino is known for being part of the Hip Hop magazine The Source, which was launched in 1988 as a single sheet newsletter out of Mays’s Harvard University dorm room. Benzino is also known for being involved in a widely publicized feud with rapper Eminem. (Wikipedia)
