[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name their Top 5 rappers of all-time. To make things tricky, we've created a "Hall of Fame" of emcees (see right) who are universally respected and therefore may not be mentioned. After Fresh Daily dished out his fave five, The LOX's Styles P names his top spitters.]
M.O.P. I think they’re a great group. I think they’re in and out. They play off of each other and it’s great. I think they always give you super hype energy. They’ve never misrepresented. Ever.
CNN. It’s the same thing as M.O.P., although they didn’t stay together. I think they provided a lot of great underground music and sh*t that a lot of n*ggas could f*ck with and relate to.
Talib Kweli. I think Talib’s one of the best lyricists ever. Conscious or unconscious, however you want to name it. I think he always says that sh*t. I really think he delivers. It’s the same with Mos Def, it’s all about the wordplay and delivery. Even though it’s conscious, you can feel it.
Black Thought. To me, him and Talib Kweli go in the same pot. They have those same qualities.
N.W.A. It’s about the movement. The movement, the greatness and the hype behind it is why I named them. They just gave you that rebel feeling back then.
