“He Can Spit On A Record & Go Do ‘Larry King’ For An Hour”

[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name their Top 5 rappers of all-time. To make things tricky, we've created a "Hall of Fame" of emcees (see right) who are universally respected and therefore may not be mentioned. After Mike "Trauma" D pounded out his fave five, fellow Arkatech Beatz producer Jugrnaut unloads his top choices.]

  • p-kanye-west.jpgKanye West. I think Kanye, as an overall artist, he’s incredible. He’s a very, very talented producer and he puts together records that are passionate. The albums he put together, they make a mark. With Kanye, you can never write him off. He keeps on evolving. He evolves as an artist. He’ll do something on an album that might not be the same as what he did on the previous one. He’s always doing something fresh and it’s probably why he keeps on getting success.

  • p-lil-wayne.jpgLil Wayne. Weezy is the same thing. I believe he’s one of the hardest workers in this business as we know it now. One of the first records we did was with Big Pun and Lil Wayne’s been here since then. He keeps on getting more and more successful and the only way to get to that level is through hard work. He’s somebody who has always wanted to get better and leave a mark with their music.

  • Andre 3000Andre 3000. Andre is a storyteller. He’s one of those great lyricists. He’s just a legend. Out here, he’s a legend. When I was in New York and got wind of the OutKast, I could see them blowing up and remember hearing his wordplay and lyricism. It’s just incredible. You can’t deny it.

  • p-snoop-dogg.jpgSnoop Dogg. Snoop is an icon. He’s an icon. Coming from what he’s come from and to see what he’s turned into? He’s like a cultural icon right now. He can spit on a record and go do ‘Larry King’ for an hour. He’s another artist that you can call underrated. Even though people don’t really put him in that Top 5 list, look at what he’s done in his entire career.

  • JadakissJadakiss. It’s just the lyrics. You can depend on him. If you put him on a record, he’s going to deliver. Just listen to the words and the wordplay. He’s one of the better lyricists in the game and really one of the more consistent.
