After six months behind bars, Gucci Mane recently spoke on his jail released, his new video with Cam’ron and what he has in store for fans.
The “So Icey” rapper claims he has been putting verses down since his release.
“Straight to the studio and recorded four or five songs,” Gucci said in an interview about being released. “Then I had a party later that night to get ready for, so that took up most of my day right there…”I’m working on [an album] now…I don’t know when it’s coming out. I’m only 30 percent done. No title yet. I’m trying to see where the music takes me and base the title on the music. I’m just going through a lot of new material.” Gucci, OJ Da Juiceman and Cam’ron shoot the video for a “Make The Trap Say Aye” remix on Tuesday (March 7) in Atlanta. “Cam killed that verse,” Gucci added. “He went in on that song. That was a great verse. Shout-out to Cam.” (MTV)
Upon being released Saturday (March 14) morning, Gucci treated fans to a “Welcome Back” concert.
Put together by radio station Hot 107.9, crowds of fans and supporters attended a “Welcome Back” concert for the “So Icey” rapper. “Yo Gucci,” one of the concert hosts said to the rapper prior to his performance. “I mean, you gotta go in the right way, baby. They missed you, you gotta talk to ‘em a little bit.” Performing a variety of his hit songs, Gucci was also joined alongside Shawty Lo on-stage throughout his concert. (UNN)
He has also reportedly begun recording new material for a forthcoming music project.
“What better way to come home than to connect with friends and colleagues you haven’t seen in a while, by going into the lab and recording all of the hits you’ve come up with while you’re away,” Portia Kirkland, vice president of Marketing for Mizay/So Icey said in a statement. “Having great talent all in one room without the pen and the paper in the booth will make for a great homecoming and we’ll make sure Hood Affair Films will be there to capture it all.” (Press Release)
Gucii was ordered to serve one year in prison last September for violating terms of his probation.
Gucci was sent to prison after only serving 25 hours out of his mandated 600 hours of community service and testing positive for drugs at his last probation meeting. After serving his jail sentence, Gucci will still have two and half years of probation and 600 hours of community service to look forward to. (My Fox Atlanta)
