Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane has revealed how he made big bucks at the start of his career and named his first fancy purchase since becoming rich.
Gucci said a pricey whip turned out to be the biggest gift he got himself in the mid-2000’s.
What was the first thing you bought when you got rich? I started getting some money from doing shows, going to Tennessee, and into small towns. $4,000, $1,500. The first car I bought was a Corvette. How much did it cost? 60 bands. $60,000. When did you buy it? In 2004. What color was it? Yellow. I always had yellow cars from day one. I feel like if it’s yellow, and it’s a sports car, it’ll attract a lot of attention. (Complex)
Last month, the Atlanta rapper poked fun at rap veteran Nas‘ financial woes.
“Does Nas make a 150 blood money per week off a mixtape,” Gucci asked in a video. “Yeah, blood money. Nas’ f*cked up right now. Yeah. Me and you got [whips], I just bought me [something]. Don’t you have a drop top? … You got the white one, I’m getting the black one? Nas got one? [laughs]” (Hood Affairs TV)
He also boasted about being down to fight any challenger for a few million bucks.

Earlier this year, Gucci admitted losing multiple bets during the 2011-2012 NFL playoffs.
“That’s my partner and we’re definitely trying to work something out,” Gucci said referring to Birdman. “We’re always trying to work something out. You know I’m a business man. I always keep my ears open to what’s going on. [Am I a sports fan?] I’m a big sports fan. I lost like three bets in a row. I bet on the [Baltimore] Ravens, the [San Francisco] 49ers and the Patriots and I lost three in a row. [Did I want to take on Birdman’s $5 million bet?] Nah, he wanted the same team, both of us went for the Patriots. Yeah, I lost.” (Hot 107.9)
