G-Unit head 50 Cent has defended his decision to name-drop former comrades Game and Young Buck on his new "My Life" record and said despite the diss there are no real tensions between them.

According to Fif, the unexpected jabs at the ex-Unit members mostly came from the track being recorded in 2010.

“To begin, that record was recorded two years ago. These things are monumental moments in my experience, in music culture. Period. Of course it was Game first to decide to go left. He had help, me and [his ex-manager] Jimmy never got along. Jimmy Henchman was managing him at the time to go left. … In Game’s case, there is absolutely no malice in my heart towards him. I’d like to see him do whatever he can do at this point. And Buck, I think that’s over, I think that’s done. I think his career is finished. It’s because, like his temperament, right now he’s in jail but knowing who he is the entire time he’s been around, I don’t think he has what it takes to recover.” (“Big Boy’s Neighborhood”)

Earlier in the week, Game threatened to retaliate over Fif’s “My Life” shot.

“Maybe he got something he wants to tell us, you know, about his secret life,” Game said in response to 50’s “My Life” reference. “Ain’t nobody worried about 50. Let’s just ask the people. That’s really the best he can do. You know what I’m saying? Buck is in jail, his situation is that, he can’t defend himself from there. … Every now and again, you get these zombie movies where no matter how many times you shoot them, they keep [getting back up]. … My last freestyle was probably ‘500 Bars’ and like 26 minutes long. The freestyle that killed G-Unit, the whole staff, record label, the clothes is ‘300 Bars’ and I might have to go and double that up and just really say everything I want to say. There’s more to say.” (Power 106)

On the record, Curtis Jackson clearly goes at both rappers’ necks.

“Yeah, 03, I went from back filthy to filthy rich /Man, the emotions change so I can never trust a b*tch/I tried to help n*ggas get on, they turned around and spit/Right in my face, so Game and/Buck, both can suck a d*ck/Now when you hear ’em it may sound like it’s some other sh*t/Cause I’m not writing anymore, they not making hits” (“My Life”)

Despite the comments, Game spoke on a potential G-Unit reunion last summer.

“Hey Whoo Kid, man, you know what it is,” Game told Whoo Kid. “I’m telling you, soon as I get off the phone, it’s everywhere. Eh, Ron-Ron hit me like, ‘Call up the Whoo Kid,’ I looked at the man, I had to put my iPhone way back and look at it. I’m like, ‘Yo, this n*gga just texted me like, ‘Call up the Whoo Kid?’ F*ck it. Whoo Kid’s my dude. I ain’t talked to [you] in a while. … [G-Unit reunion?] If it’s an opportunity to make some money, then it’s all good. If not, you know 50 [Cent] let his ego go, that’s good too but I’m all good. I’m not tripping off nobody until somebody’s tripping. Then I’m going to turn it all the way up.” (“G-Unit Radio”)
