West Coast rapper Game recently talked about former Aftermath boss Dr. Dre's elusive Detox solo album release date and why he is not holding out on the LP hitting store shelves anytime soon.

In Game’s perspective, Dre’s delayed album could easily be shelved for good.

“Detox, it’s like Jesus,” says Game. “Will you ever get to see Jesus? It’s like a hip-hop Jesus.” In 2011, Dr. Dre released two cuts off the elusive album — “Kush” and “I Need a Doctor.” Things were looking up for fans, who had been paitently waiting for a follow-up to Dre’s 2001, which was released in 1999. But, then, it was crickets all over again. “Dre’s a hard guy to please,” adds Game, noting Dr. Dre’s attention to detail and perfection. “If he doesn’t become 100 percent happy, then we’ll probably never end up hearing Detox. I’ll say never.” Game also notes that the success that came with Dr. Dre’s headphone company Beats by Dre, also interferes with a new Dr. Dre album. (VIBE)

A couple years ago, the platinum-selling rapper promised he would appear on the project if it ever dropped.

“If there is a Detox, then Game is on it more than once. But if it never comes out, then nobody’s on it,” Game said in an interview. “Detox man, I don’t know about Detox man. I’ve been thinking about detoxing lately, because I’ve been back on my workout grind and I’ve been thinking about detoxing. That’s the only thing I can tell you about Detox.” (KISS 107.5)

Over the fall, Aftermath protégé Kendrick Lamar took the blame for delaying Detox.

Detox got pushed ot the back just because my album, Dre really found interest in my music [and] wanted me to go forward and push that immediately,” Lamar said in an interview. “That’s a great thing. I’ve heard the records on Detox, they’re insane, and the opportunity to be on that is a privilege and an honor.” (Puna NL)

Back in 2011, former N.W.A. group member Ice Cube gave his spin on why the project has not come out.

Still to this day, there is no official word on ‘Detox,’ and Dre has even stated that he was taking a break from music to focus on other things in his life. Aside from music, Dr. Dre’s Beats By Dre headphones have become a massive success, and it seems the super producer has focused most of his time and energy to that particular business venture. Fellow N.W.A. rapper Ice Cube recently addressed the issue of Dre’s multiple delays on ‘Detox’ album, which coincides with the aforementioned statements about the Beats by Dre headphones. In a recent interview with Sway, Ice Cube stated, ” “Honestly? Them headphones are selling, selling, selling. What would you rather sell somebody: $300 headphones, or a $10 tape?” (This Beat Goes)
