West Coast rapper Game made sure to show the world just how much of an impact late global icon Nelson Mandela had on him this week with a tribute tattoo.
The tattoo-clad hip-hop star added fresh ink to his body in light of Mandela passing away last week at the age of 95.
The Game is keeping the memory of Nelson Mandela alive. The Compton MC tatted a photo of the late South African president on his body. After a seven-hour session, he showed off the finished piece on Instagram. “The finished ‘Nelson Mandela’ lookin out of the prison bars by @NikkoHurtado done on my side. 7 hour sitting…. Few more hours to tie in the tats around it & we solid,” he said. Game praised Mandela, calling him “one of the greatest leaders of our time.” The Mandela tat is the latest in a series that includes his three kids, Trayvon Martin, and President Obama. (Rap-Up)
Earlier in the day, rap star Kanye West paid his respect to Mandela’s family and denied ever making dishonorable statements about him.
“Respect to Mandela, his family and his legacy.,” Ye tweeted December 9.
“Despite recent media reports, I’ve never said anything to dishonor or trivialize the life or transition of one of the most inspiring leaders”
“I’d like to address the false stories and noise that have been engineered by the media.”
“At a young age my mother taught me the importance of his work. Mandela sacrificed his life for the betterment of mankind.”

According to reports, Mandela lost his life due to medical complications last Thursday (December 5).
The prominent political leader, whose life-long work to end apartheid in his native South Africa and subsequent election as the country’s first black president made him an icon and furthermore, a global symbol of peace and social change, died Thursday, the government of South Africa confirmed. He was 95. According to reports, Mandela died from complications due a recurring lung infection. He had been hospitalized since June 8. (E! Online)
Renowned boxing icon Muhammad Ali issued a statement on the fellow global symbol’s passing.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Mandela. His was a life filled with purpose and hope; hope for himself, his country and the world. He inspired others to reach for what appeared to be impossible and moved them to break through the barriers that held them hostage mentally, physically, socially and economically. He made us realize, we are our brother’s keeper and that our brothers come in all colors. What I will remember most about Mr.Mandela is that he was a man whose heart, soul and spirit could not be contained or restrained by racial and economic injustices, metal bars or the burden of hate and revenge.
