West Coast rapper Game has paid his respect to late poet Dr. Maya Angelou following reports of her passing early Wednesday (May 28). #NeverForget
The Los Angeles rapper posted a photo of Angelou with some heartfelt words to his Instagram page.
“Rest in peace to one of our generations greatest inspirations. Maya Angelou ~,” Game captioned to a photo of Dr. Angelou which read “If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.” (Game’s Instagram)
Fellow music star Common also reacted to the famous author’s death.
“I was thinking about her lately. GOD Bless the Soul of one if my heroes. Dr Maya Angelou,” Common tweeted May 28. (Common’s Twitter)
Details of her shocking passing surfaced online early Wednesday (May 28).
Maya Angelou — one of America’s most famous poets — died last night in a Winston-Salem, North Carolina hospital while recovering from a mystery sickness. Angelou was recovering from an “unexpected ailment” that sent her to the hospital. She died with family by her side. She has received more than 30 honorary degrees from universities around the world. Her most famous book — “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” — was also her most controversial. (TMZ)
Reports claim Angelou was expected to be honored later this week in Texas.
Maya was supposed to be honored Friday in Houston where she was supposed to receive the Beacon of Life Award. Angelou was one of the most inspiring poets of our time — most famously saying “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” (TMZ)
