Game said he felt there was no need to force fans to buy his R.E.D. Album.

“I think that people took that the wrong way. I just said that I feel like that after three albums, and this one being my fourth one, that my fans – I don’t necessarily have to go out and just say, ‘Hey, go buy my album.’ I don’t have to force people to buy the album. Sometimes with promotion, that’s what labels send you out to do; go sell yourself. I don’t think I have to do that anymore. I think everybody knows who I am and who I’m about. And I still come and make these runs, but I’m not making nobody go buy the album. I don’t give a f*ck if you buy it or not. You know, get it how you get it. If you don’t have the money, and you need to bootleg it, do that. Of course the labels going to think differently.” (Hip Hop DX)

Last month, Game said he earned a strong enough following not to force people’s interest.

The rapper says he believes seniority in music equates with not having to promote upcoming projects, and that’s exactly the approach he’s taking for the release of his fourth studio album. “I’m not into promoting. I give you a date, and if you’re a Game fan, then you’ll get the album,” the West Coast rapper says matter-of-factly about his upcoming album, “R.E.D.,” due July 6 on Interscope Records. “I don’t sell myself. This is my fourth album. I don’t think I need to do all that…Generally I just wake up in the morning and I live life and I make my decisions as far as music goes based on how I’m feeling that day.” (ABC News)

Game previously talked about competing on June 15th with Drake‘s debut album.

“Nah man, it’s just a package deal, you should go and support hip-hop, go get Thank Me Later and go grab R.E.D. and you good,” Game said in an interview. “You know you’re good, then the next week you come back and buy Eminem, great. June is gonna be a big month. So no, it’s no competition. Everything don’t gotta be a competition and we’re not even the same type of [artist,] we’re not in the same lane. I respect what he does and I talked to him before, he’s a fan of mine so we’ll just keep it like that and put it out, people will go and buy them and who cares who’s number one, number two, it don’t make no sense to me because I’ve been around and sold millions of records already. I have nothing else to prove.” (Rap-Up TV)

Recently, Game talked about missing a R.E.D. Album music video shoot with Lil Wayne.

“I flaked on the video,” Game said of their “Everything Red” track, which features Lil Wayne and Birdman. “Bird was like, ‘Listen, daddy, you can come down here. Junior is gonna turn himself in next Wednesday. You can come down here. We can shoot the video before Junior go in. You just have that in the safe.’ I blew it. I didn’t make it down. Once he went [to jail], I was like, ‘I can’t use this.’ I didn’t want to save it, so I gave it away. That was like, ‘Single!’ … I think I was in with Dr. Dre. I couldn’t move,” he thought back. “I think we was finishing up his records. When Dre is mixing, you don’t leave. You gotta stay posted. But I couldn’t move. So I gave it away. Fans appreciate it, though.” (MTV)

Game’s R.E.D. Album is set to drop Tuesday, August 24th.
