According to Game, he is now down with the Cash Money family.

Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Lil Wayne have a new labelmate. The Game has officially joined the YMCMB family as the label’s newest signee. Birdman made the announcement on Twitter. “S/O 2MY@thegame Westcoast makit Official.RICHGANG.YMCMBusine$$,” tweeted the Cash Money CEO. The Game saluted his new team. “@BIRDMAN5STAR time to close the door on these niggas !!!! R$CHGANG,” he responded. The Compton rapper, 33, was previously signed to Interscope Records, where he released five No. 1 albums including his 2005 debut The Documentary, which was released in conjunction with G-Unit Records. Recently, Game said there was ample interest in how his next LP would be released.

“Recently, a free agent,” Game said in an interview. “I was signed to Interscope for my last five albums which, of course, are all platinum and I’ve been taking a lot of meetings and on a lot of conference calls about my next move and I just – I haven’t narrowed it down yet.” (“Larry King Now”)

Last fall, the West Coast rapper announced Rick Ross had displayed interest in snagging him up after his final contractual Interscope Records obligation.

“This is my last studio album for Interscope,” Game told Sway during Wednesday’s episode of “RapFix Live.” “I talked to Ross the other day — shout-out to MMG, Wale and Meek Mill, they started off the MMG Tour in Penn State. I rocked with ’em onstage and I was talking to Ross, and Ross was like, ‘What’s up with that last album?’ And I’m like, ‘You know, it’s the last album.’ And he was like, ‘Nah, never mind, Jimmy ain’t gon’ let you go.’ So that and talking to [Cash Money’s] Baby and [Lil Wayne] two times a week, you know, it’s cool. I kinda feel like a little free agent in the league real quick.” (MTV)

The Black Wall Street leader also hinted at the possibility of going dolo.

“I been waking up for the last week and just thinking about my own independent grind. I got enough fans to push it. I know if I need media coverage, I got real friends, but I’m just gonna ride it out with Interscope and stay loyal to them and really get this Jesus Piece album going and then make my decision later on.” (MTV)

In spring 2012, Cash Money boss Birdman spoke on his close friend’s label status.

“Game is signed to Interscope–I don’t really know his situation. I don’t like to get into talks with other people who are signed to other labels because I wouldn’t want them n*ggas f*cking with nothing that’s mine. So I show respect to whoever they with I know that I told Game, if the time come I would love to sign Game. I think he’s a very talented artist. But right now he’s signed with Interscope, maybe he’s got another album. But when time comes, I’m gonna be there for him too.” (Complex)
